But fire will break out! The fuel that keeps flowing from the wing will ignite on the runway! Even when turning the engines off just before touchdown, fire would break out?
I would assume that to only be the case if the aircraft is in motion, which I don’t think was the case here.
So the engines to shear off is normal? 😮
Changing an aircraft that often must be a bit strange, for example reaching to a button which is on a specific place in the Learjet, but is elsewhere in the Gulfstream or so? Or isn’t it like getting used to a new car?
It’s just a callsign. Who cares? Passengers don’t hear it, and why would pilots bother…
Its a 737-400, ex Sobelair OO-SBJ, c/n 24573 if you are into that sort of thing.
Exactly. It was repainted in the TUI colors since Jetair, who chartered Sobelair is a member of the TUI group.
Maybe the ATR was written off and this came in it’s place?
O-o, are engines 2 & 3 on the ground? That shouldn’t be because if the gear collapses on the runway, the engines will shear off.
Is that stage 3 or does he pay high fines?
O-o, the other terminals will be crowded now! Air France was the main operator here!
Hehe, this means Paris is no longer ready for the A380… Hope they wil by the time that Air France receives theirs!
There. I don’t want to resize them all, so here the highlights.
When I arrived, a Spitfire was doing crazy stunts, flips and rolls. Very cool to see. It nearly crashed into the control tower:). Unfortunately we didn’t find a space to park the car and couldn’t get any pictures of it. When I at last arrived at the airport, the spitfire did a touch and go and then went to some other airport.
The pictures are very blocky, this is because Microsoft Photo Editor can’t resize properly.
Hey, I AM the local spotter of Antwerp :D. I’m going in an hour or so. I’ll also post some pictures here.
Stieglitz, there hangs some small prop aircraft in the departure hall in Brussels. Is that an SV4B?
Just like the back wheel stearing on a two-part bus, a large truck. These mainwheel steering is also on the 747 (two inner blocks) and on the 777 (rear two wheels of each block).
Maybe it’s gonna be the fault of the company that built it…
Update from the radio. I translated it myself.
It’s not the first time that the terminal causes trouble. The offical opening was delayed because the terminal didn’t have it’s safety certificate on time.
The area had been closed already by police when they saw big cracks in the walls.
Update from BBC
The French Transport Minister, Gilles de Robien, is due to visit the scene.
Reports say sections of a roof fell onto a boarding footway. The passage in turn collapsed onto airport service vehicles parked underneath.
One report said that five people had died, three of them police.
Police are reported to be trying to reach people trapped in the rubble.
Terminal 2E cost 750m euros to build and was opened in 2003. It is used by Air France and the Sky Team alliance.
Paris airport collapse kills four
Four people have been killed and at least 10 injured after a roof collapsed at Paris Charles de Gaulle airport.
The reason for the collapse in terminal 2E, a newly-constructed part of the international airport, was not immediately clear.
“Several tonnes of concrete and glass have collapsed,” Laurent Vibert, a spokesman for the fire service told LCI television.
The accident took place at 0700 (0500 GMT). The area has been evacuated.
