There have been Microlights operating out of a strip to the NW side of Oxton at Salterford and there is the strip above Thurgarton to the East of Oxton. Other strips in the area are the Lambley site and a single Cherokee operated out of a private strip at Leapool roundabout some years ago. Just above Ravenshead at Tabletop Tree is the old Tommy Shipside strip where he kept his Messenger, Gemini and I believe an Auster.

It is. Over to Al.

This one too is easy. I believe that the power units and props on the 30P were ex Marauder units.

“The World owes me a living”. c1946 aired on british TV c 1957 Bristol F2B and I think an Avro 504, plus some other DH and Miles types memory doesn’t recall.
“Things to come” Mew Gull “fighter” in combat with a Hawker Fury and Avro 504’s. and some futuristic mock ups.
“The Death Ray” Airspeed Envoy.

OK movie-buffs a couple of vintage stills from the depths of the archive, can anyone tell me the film from which they came?
Not a competition have been trying to ID them for ages!
I think the nearest is Steaman 6D (YBT5) and the further kite is a C.3.

Question, AA… was the Mamba the Gannet engine?
The single Mamba was used on very few a/c such as the the Short Seamew and the Mamba Baliol and if memory serves me right the Sturgeon SB3.

The Tyne Lincoln was an old “friend” as I used to see it in the Hucknall circuit over our house on a regular basis.
Unfortunately because of the “over painting”, of which the reason is obvious, I can’t tell what the construction is. Is it a wooden monocoque? and does the wing have a double taper?

Brian, thank you very much indeed, these pics really do cross the “T”s and dot the i’s.
I now have all the information I require to do a 1:48 kit of the generic Hucks Starter as each surviving type is slightly different. I’ve spent all afternoon making a set of leaf springs for the suspension and some of the chassis based on Ford info I already have.
Thanks again and also to Ollie.

It was sold to America then back to Doug Arnold and thence back to the states.

It’s got the look of a Scheibe SF 27 or possible Siebert design.

They were painted black so the foot marks didn’t show when you climbed up the legs to get at the Green Satin aerial or the PTR etc in the nosewheel bay.
John
