It won’t have any impact as the F-X2 has been cancelled and replaced by the F-X3.
I have not seen anything like this, even though I’m in touch with some Brazilian or portuguese reading people…
I’m not sure I have seen the specs of the Rafale offered to India. It would be at least the same as for Brasil… Thus, possibly the most expensive fighter ever:D
Good signature, Obligatory.
I’m quite sure Gripen made it to the podium.:D
http://livefist.blogspot.com/2011/02/could-this-be-mmrca-ranking.html
Among the six options was one that reflected in precise terms a ranking that was conveyed to select journalists at Aero India by Indian Air Force officers, who of course asked not be named.
The three plausible options allowed by the news today were :
Since one of the three is true, and since Gripen was ranked third in two of those three options, you know what I mean.
In addition, my hypothesis is supported by my favourite of the three (for personal reasons I won’t disclose :D).
I smell a conspiracy! how do we know the Typhoon is even flying out of Libya anyway!? ๐
:D:D
Spectra EW is a bit obsolete in its current form,
Ah ? ๐ฎ
Interesting, go on.
but those long range SAM’s aren’t that hard to dodge with a decent MAWS
Ah ?
Interesting, go on.

Petit Duc ( AVE-D )
In the bottom left corner of the first pic (from Trimble), we can see a Rafale. I think this pictures comes from the fake footage of Rafale flying with some Petit Duc around, as you can see in this video :

@TMor,
at least we have the MoD’s confirmation of this see the link above. And here:

No problem. I’m not questioning the veracity of this event. I just wanted to look at the configuration, and see pictures of armed Typhoons… ๐ฎ
Interestingly, we didn’t see pictures of Typhoon flying in Lybia with A2G weapons, but we we have the videos coming from the pod…
I just refuse to accept a couple of seemingly very biased articles be stone cold truth of this fact.
A&C is the only “biased” magazine in France which found sources to counter our pilot’s initial claims about Rafale vs F-22.
I guess they would have been happy to do the same about the Typhoon vs Rafale story.
This story of gunfights between Rafale and Typhoon was initially revealed in AFM by our Lt Col Granclaudon, a 1/7 pilot known to be the leader of the first Red Flag Rafale deployment, just before they met with the Typhoon in Corsica.
The article by A&C reiterates the same story, with more details.
In time more reliable and impartial information will be reveiled which will confirm or deny what people on here state but at the moment we just donโt know, and as I stated for me those articles are not valid proof for me!
On one hand, it’s all normal to meet scepticism when one side claims superiority.
On the other hand, we (French) have the chance to have those data claimed officially by a named pilot, heard and reported by several sources, at several moments, while other sides had to rely on anonymous so called of self claimed “specialists” and “pilots” who didn’t miss a single opportunity to bash Rafale and prove their product superior purely on theoretic basis.
๐
Very nice, so what about in terms of weapons and what not? Doesn’t explain the full story of what actually happened does it.
Guns only… This was the purpose of this encounter. All the given data indicates that everything was supposed to be equal in both sides (or at least chosen by the pilots). Why do you try to add parameters which are obvious ? Why would UK pilots have taken off with full A2G loads just for a one on one gunfight ?
Like I say, I take that “source” with a pinch of salt. Especially when it states, the “English” on more than one occasion.
Did I miss something ? Maybe you suggest that UK pilots didn’t want to comment ?
I mean… When it was Rafale vs F-16, of course, we had comments from the US pilots… Their machine is old and no match, no surprise.
But why would Typhoon pilots accept to tell “well, we couldn’t get the upper hand this time” considering that Rafale and Typhoon are from the same generation (whatever the british marketing will say), Typhoon is more A2A optimized, and French pilots have mainly A2G culture ?
There is something dis-gracious here.
Be careful with all this salt. Every French sources are to be taken with a pinch of salt those times… ?
@eagle1, cheers for the link, but as redreidy pointed out, French publication, no actual quotes, so I’ll take it with a pinch of salt, too. Even if it was official, I’d like to know the ROE, I doubt it’d be such a one-sided result without them.
The RoE ? What was this ?
The 2 planes take off, then meet up at 18 000 ft to start the exercise. The aircraft are flying on the same trajectory with about 2 km of lateral separation. “Turn Away” with this announcement, the pilots turn 45 ยฐ outward, to move away from each other. A few seconds later, the “turn in” and the planes turn toward each other to meet face-to-face in the sky. Once both aircraft is within visual range , its the ultimate ad: “Fight’s on!”.

Note: Rafale came to trials with a PESA radar, rite?
Wrong.
Rafale is a better jet than Typhoon.
The less we will read this kind of claim, the better the forum will be. Thanks.
so there may be other explanations for the single SCALP configuration (for example, 2 SCALPs would bring take-off weight to 22.2t – right around Rafale’s max launch weight on CdG).
Yes, or maybe it would be uncomfortable to come back and land on the carrier with a possible asymmetric configuration…
If people could simply stop provocations…
