That’s a fundamental problem which arise each time people disagree.

    However, you said “blatant”. 😮

I wonder if 2018 gives us a window into when they expect the Typhoon to take over very Tornado specific taskings like Stormshadow…

This is nothing new, it seems. It is said that Tornado is still a prefered fighter for a2g tasks. We have to wait a bit before Typhoon bring something to the RAF in this area.

But the document also deals with problems with spares and flighting hours (impact on training ?)

160 isn’t it? 107 is the frontline number right?

    The document says :

The number of Typhoons will fall to 107 as the older aircraft in the fleet are taken out of service by 2019.

France is good at technology, but it’s hardly known for being efficient.

Before we start this kind of discussions I would appreciate people remember a rule :

    Don’t feed the troll.

Why would dumb messages attract to much attention ? I think we’re done with this thread.

Does anyone have a diagram or technical papers on this sort of configuration?

I think I have something about this on one of my hard drives, but I have no time right now. Maybe later.

Well if the RBE2AA 10 kW power output figure is true (don’t know exactly where I read it) then it is more than likely that the RBE2 had a considerably lower output which would “qualify” as limited output. Most newer fighter radars offer a peak power between 10 & 20 kW.

10kW “average” (or “mean” ? I don’t know what’s the word in english) power output. You’re comparing it to “peak” values.
The source is A&C, in several issues.

I am well aware that RBE2 is electronically scanned. However it is limited by small antenna aperture, limited power output and poor performance at large angles compared to CAPTOR (and many other radars).

What do you know about the “limited power output” ?
What do you mean by “(and many other radars)” ?
The problem here is the E-Scan system which sacrifices the raw performance of range at large angles. Isn’t it true for any E-Scan radar ? (except those which also use mechanically moveable antenna)

Nevertheless, I think the AESA antenna is critical in ensuring competitiveness with other aircraft.

Thankfully, AESA has always been proposed. In addition, now, it is totally funded, tested, in production, just not yet in service.

RBE2 is a eletronic doppler not a meca one, it is far more sharp and discret than any captor stuffs!

Sorry, but I find it boring when Rafale supporters write stupid things. You don’t know how awkward it can be then…

The “far more” argument about something which isn’t quantifiable is boring for example, for a simple reason, just as you said :

as about number of mmics or dimeter of antennas, bring somes serioux sources rather than smearing ones, because Thales keeps all this classified, as Pesa specifications etc..

as about RCS pilots and engineers states that ef2000 has 1/4 tornado one, Rafale has 1/20 of mirage 2000D !

You can find many claims by many people. In the 90s, Dassault even said Rafale was 1/20 of F-15… Wooow ! What a great deal ! Think about using this as an argument next time…
You’d better stick to the fact that, AFTERWARD, after dueling against Typhoon for real in the air, Rafale pilots continuously claim that Rafale has an edge in this domain. Thanks.

as captor supposed range without lpi is closer to a weakness than an advange!

Yes, you suppose so. We don’t know much about this too.

You are hardly in a good position to call others stupid.

I’ve seen Blue Apple admitting he was wrong without problem, several times. Let me advice you to rise the level of argumentation…

The RBE2-AA isn’t in service yet.

No, but we use 4 prototypes for demonstrations. However, I never saw anywhere that they were pitted against Typhoon…

As I told you, it was in reference to figures from the French Senat!

In Senat and Assemblée Nationale, you get costs with VAT.

Also I think they are too low for India, because this price might not include VAT, but also not the development costs, which normally will be added to exports.

True for the R&D costs : but only for the part paid by the industrials (25 percent). We have yet to see who will pay them, or how will they distribute them over several contracts…

As long as Dassault don’t offer a partnership, I don’t think we get the same price as they do and if you compare that to reported costs from other export competitions, you will see that the price is always higher.

Discussing about prices in export campaigns is tricky to say the least. Quoted figures aren’t flyaway prices, these are always for whole offers. I don’t know how one can tell, unless he had access to secret data.

PS : I wouldn’t even try to interpret Eurofighter numbers.

That’s really interesting because some months ago, the Marine didn’t want AdA to use the Exocet…
