I’m going to search Rafale video on internet with the test pilot of the article Eric Girard.
LoL π π π
If we’re thinking about the same video, you’re really funny ! π
I have another question :
Has the Autoflug Libelle G-Suit entered service ?
No… Did you read the article ? π π
Canards and flaperons handle the job.

See page 108. π
Did someone notice the 45.61% MAC instability ? the CG moving “even farther aft” with external stores ?

Article about european AESA on page 78.
(AdA to receive first AESA Rafale in 2008 ??? :confused: )

Pit : sorry, i was wrong, you were right. In fact, the link you gave me was just partly a copy of the Sweetman’s article. My copy of this article wasn’t a full version. π
You can find a copy here for the article “Killer Angels” by Bill Sweetman :
http://home.iae.nl/users/wbergmns/info/rafale.htm
B.Sweetman do not talk about IMEWS here.
Maybe in another article from him ?
Bill suggested back then that there were intentions or plans to introduce the optical system of OSF as a pod for Mirage-2000 fleet (don’t remind wich variant) to allow visual ID at BVR range.
=>http://aviationnow.com/shownews/03paris/aircraft2_20.htm
A MIDS Link 16 datalink should be integrated in 2006, along with the Thales AIDA visual identification pod comprising elements of the Rafale frontal-sector optronics system repackaged in the Damocles pod. This will give them the ability to declare a target as hostile using two independent means of identification.
According to you, Pit, “aviationnow.com” just repeated what Bill Sweetman reported, is it ?
Fun video with Rafale C01 :

Thank you Pit. Interesting article (not “Killer Angels” by BSweetman π ), though i still find it strange :
The Mirage 2000-9’s integrated multimission electronic warfare system (IMEWS), developed by Thales and Elettronica, is characterized by French engineers as a targeting-capable system, with more precise and faster range measurement capabilities than the Rafale’s Spectra, allowing the aircraft to perform defense-suppression missions.
So it’s all about range measurement capabilities. I still find it hard to believe that they really equiped it with something better than on the Spectra. Also, i’m wondering whether they compare to Rafale F1 or F2… while the definite is the F3… ? I don’t know. According to what i’ve read, only the Rafale F3 will be able to assume DEAD missions only with Spectra… Maybe it’s a hint… ? Or maybe Italians made a great job π
I’ve also seen this :
France’s 37 Mirage 2000-5Fs, which have been modified from older 2000Cs, are due to receive enhancements to allow them to engage targets beyond visual identification range.
The sentence is strange : the 2000-5F have been BVR capable since the begining… :rolleyes:
==========
European :
http://www.elettronica-roma.com/en/programmes/imews.html
The Dassault Mirage 2000 interceptor became operational in the 1990s.
Inaccurate : they are talking about the 2000-5F, operationnal in the LATE 90s.
We know very little about Spectra.
And i don’t know where you could read about a comparison between Spectra and IMEWS. In addition, it is clear that Thales are doing their best on the Spectra for French AdA Rafale, and i find it surprising if they did better on a system build for an export version of Mirage 2000 (-9). In addition, the Rafale’s DEAD capability was discovered quite recently.
Do you have a link or something so that i understand what you said ?
Any comments ? Yes : i see no reference to IMEWS in “Killer Angels”. π
I find the comparison weird. :rolleyes:
Now, that explains pretty nice and well the 1ΒΊ DF accuracy claimed by the system,
Less than 1Β° π
two-three aircraft triangulation or any other one?
It’s been claimed in some french scientific news papers at least. Spectra will allow Rafale to go for DEAD (Destruction of Enemy Air Defense) missions with the AASM. But i don’t know if it’s already the case or if it’s for the F3 standard.
With the developing news in Japan do you blokes see Dassault changing its mind?
No… Not after what happened two times…:rolleyes:
that will finally settle this jelousy/critisism many people have of the typhoon.
Yes, you’re right.
I’m still waiting to see an interview of a in service Typhoon pilot. The last one was of a spanish pilot in 2005 who couldn’t aprove what’s usually said about the aircraft because it wasn’t equiped with right sofwares yet (enveloppe restriction etc).
I’d also appreciate to read about its serviceability or such things. What about teething problems ? Is everything ok and perfect ?
The only article i’ve read so far wich reported complaints was in the Mirror π
Yes, I had his permission, thanks. I didn’t modify anything in post 137, to my knowledge, I just cut and pasted from the (Air International?) article I was sent, by the author.
Did you have permission to quote AFM? :rolleyes:
I was talking about NAMING the author so as people know where the quote come from. π
=> I just cut and pasted :
In the published article, the paragraph was :
“No CPB evaluation team visited any Eurofighter facility and no Dutch pilot flew the aircraft. Neither Eurofighter GmbH or Dassault provided any technical data or price details.”
Yours :
No evaluation team visited Warton prior to the CBP evaluation, and no Dutch pilot flew the aircraft. EF GmbH submitted no bid, no price, and no specification, and nor did Dassault.
Jon must have re-formulated it before the publication.:rolleyes:
It seems that you are quite close to Jon Lake.
