Sorry Jim I forgot to mention that it’s OK to stand down on the memorial hunt!! :eagerness:
I am attending an Aviation Heritage Lincolnshire meeting at the Petwood Hotel all day next Tuesday and I intend to photograph the new memorial in the centre of Woodhall Spa and now the ‘missing one’ at Thorpe Camp, whilst I’m in the area.
If you’re able to be at the Petwood during lunchtime – I’ll happily stand you a pint!! 🙂
Thank you – I obviously need to pay more attention when driving onto the museum site at Thorpe Camp!! 😮

That looks like the one – many thanks for that feedback it is much appreciated! 🙂
I take it that the memorial is located on the side of the B1192?
Another location to visit next Tuesday!!

The BBMF connection was rekindled a couple of years ago when a small section of the film was ‘replicated’ for an education DVD that Newark Air Museum produced with Notts County Council. The original Hurricane escape attempt took place at RAF Hucknall and Rank Films wanted £750 for a 30 second clip – so re-filming took place one Saturday morning, with kind assistance from some RAF contacts! 😉
The middle entry on the Petwood plaque photo in #14 is something that I consider as a personal ‘moral victory’ for the “Forgotten Squadron”, which is even more poignant now it is displayed by the door, rather than high up in the Squadron Bar! 🙂
Back at RAF Woodhall Spa the memorial I am enquiring about is described by Mike Ingham in his “Air Force Memorials of Lincolnshire” book as follows: “… by the guardroom is a three-bladed propeller and centre hub mounted on a plinth ….”
It was dedicated on 5th June 1993 and I don’t recall seeing anything similar amongst the various memorials at Thorpe Camp. The enquiry relates to a project I’m involved with in association with East Lindsey District Council. Any information or leads would be greatly appreciated. 🙂

The Viggen’s spell outside has now been completed and the airframe was successfully returned to its display space in Hangar 2 this morning – even more encouraging is the news that the tractor and driver also managed to exit the hangar safely!!
Mace was shut; but even though the title’s been amended I couldn’t find any information about the memorial (a genuine question) at Budgens! :eagerness:

Jim, I’m trying to find out if one is still there – last reported several years ago as I understand it. A local forumite suggests that it has perhaps gone, but I just wanted to check if anyone else around here had any information!
Just off to the local branch of Mace!!
