Details of the three members of the public who have won prizes for casting their votes at last weekend’s Cockpit-Fest have now been listed here on the NAM website – their vouchers will go in the post this weekend!

Glad that you were all above board!

I forgot to mention that in NAM’s case it wasn’t quite as straightforward as I may have intimated – the route from RAF Cranwell to Newark along the old A17 road included quite a tricky section through a Lincolnshire village called Leadenham and a rather steep hill to descend as you left the village. Still it was worthwhile asking the question.

I hope that you haven’t been affected by the heavy rain that we’re hearing about in your part of Canada?

Nice work there Tom – I once tried to get permission from the UK authorities to move a Meteor NF12 fuselage in a similar fashion!;)

Declined due to the lack of an independently functioning braking system on the aircraft!! 🙁

Yes I was Sandy, I was one of the points of contact with Chris Keltie for the book launch – we may have been introduced. I have also been assisting with research for another Winthorpe crew, some of whom were mentioned by Chris. 🙂

A short update covering events for the next 8 days has been added – as a news item in here.

It includes details of a visit by the Guild of Aviation Artists, an Armed Forces Week reminder and details of a couple of car groups.

The possibility of a Night Shoot featuring the Viggen is being debated elsewhere – any thoughts about such a proposal from people on here?

Sorry Air Ministry I thought that I’d mentioned it, but perhaps not.

Yes, my favourite Aeroboot moment was also early on Sunday morning when the ‘mini-stampede’ headed south-west towards the unsuspecting seller from Cambridgeshire! Brilliant to watch as the word went round!! 😀

Even better from NAM’s perspective was the post event donation of various items from that particular seller – thank you, it is much appreciated! 🙂

Air Ministry, I will take your layout comments back to the ‘post-event’ debrief and see what can be considered for next year. The south – north alignment was felt likely to be the best, but the eventual wind direction wasn’t factored in to that decision; perhaps it should have been – sorry I wasn’t there on Friday pm as it might have been picked-up!

I changed part of the plan on Saturday morning at the request of a few arriving sellers (single lines facing east), which enabled them to get a bit of protection from the wind. Perhaps an east – west alignment, with single rows facing north might be better and allow people to look across to the museum / displays etc.

Sadly I don’t think we’ll ever be able to run it like the ‘good old days’ as a totally integrated event; but we do try to take on board feedback etc.

He was only ever booked in for the Saturday, I did have a brief word with him and I believe that Bill O’S gave him his participation token before he left – I’m not sure whether we’ll hear much from him about these parts! 🙁

…. Does anyone have a photo of Tony’s display, missed him on the Saturday – are you out there Tony??

Tony’s display is photograph 11 in the ’Cockpit-Fest 2013 – more’ album in here on the NAM website! 🙂

Slightly off topic Sandy, but were you at Newark Air Museum last Sunday in connection with the launch of the book, Riding In The Shadow Of Death?

Some great picture coming online about these parts – another piece of coverage has been notified this morning on this news page http://www.airscene.co.uk/news/ 🙂

An album of Viggen move photographs from 2006 has been added in here to whet a few more appetites!

Everyone at NAM is now counting down the days to their next ’bit of a do’ as detailed in here!

Plus I understand that there’s a bit of investigative planning underway for something else a bit special! 😉

Thanks for all of the kind words and for now I’ll just respond to a few specifics.

Ritch – “The Friendly Aviation Museum” tag has been used on the official museum logo for around 9 months; and I’ve added back to my signature here (– even though the previously referenced Adwords are still running!) 😉 so I’m glad to see that this ‘persona for NAM’ is being maintained! 🙂

Blue the coffees are still in the machine, good to see you on Saturday!! 😀

The post event news release was circulated this morning to 80+ publications – now we hope for a better uptake.

One link that is running already is http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-nottinghamshire-22928549 and that’s using some of the NAM album photos already referenced on here.

I understand that more photographs should appear later – including I believe some ‘funnies’ – apologies in advance!
