In the Tribute to the Lightning thread I mentioned some sad news that the museum received on Friday evening, here is what has been released on the museum website overnight:
“It is with great sadness that the museum trustees have to advise that one of its founding members, David Westacott passed away suddenly on Friday afternoon (17th May 2013).
David had been visiting a family relative in Balderton and he collapsed having gone outside to see the Lancaster from the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight fly over during its day of Dambusters Commemorations.
David’s lifelong involvement with the museum will leave large gap in its operation and the trustees would like to extend their sympathies to his widow Shirley and his family.
We will advise details of the funeral arrangements with an update here as soon as details are known.
