De-brief
There are several issues that have already been noted re-layouts of both Cockpit-Fest and the Aeroboot; and NAM is already planning a serious de-brief to try and iron out some of the key issues. Comments made on here will be fed into that process.
Aeroboot wise this was our first run with the new Southfield Site configuration / new roadways, so we’re still on a learning curve and we don’t have an ideal solution when using the roadway to allow for access to and from the site.
Sadly the location of the Meteor NF14 wasn’t ideal, but as more aircraft are relocated over onto the Southfield that situation won’t improve. I think in future we will have to move away from the traditional Aeroboot location along the dyke side, which in itself will upset some people and move over to the area behind the Sea Vixen, Buccaneer etc.
Organisationally I was stretched on Saturday morning, with the enforced absence of WOS meaning it wasn’t an ideal start to the weekend. When the Drove Lane gate was opened I was also faced with several vehicles driving round inside looking for their Aeroboot space, having used that gate and not having queued with everyone else (mixed Aerobooters, Cockpiteers and Hangar 2 Exhibitors). This was later also exacerbated with Kit Car visitors ‘mingling’ with NAM’s participants.
As for the Cockpit-Fest layout I wasn’t involved with the location selections, but whatever we seem to try, we always manage to not get it quite right for someone – apologies if that was you!
I see that the themed areas idea has come round again, this was much discussed on another thread and almost forgotten; and yet here we are again!
