RAF Waddington Amateur Radio Club

Anyone with an interest in amateur radio might like to know that throughout this weekend the museum is hosting the RAF Waddington Amateur Radio Club. They will be on site from 11th May through until 13th May.

If you do plan to visit this weekend don’t forget it’s the County Show so you need to allow extra time for travel to and from the museum, which is still open all weekend.

Several event participants have requested that the museum reinstates a listing facility on the museum website for items that different individuals and groups will be bringing along to Cockpit-Fest & Aeroboot in June to sell.

This information is now live on the museum website and more details can be found on the News Page!

75th Anniversary of Saab

The museum’s three Saab aircraft feature in a new album of photos on the website gallery page – it’s sobering to think that the Safir was acquired thirty (30) years ago, in July 1982! 😮

Details of the winner of the signed Michael Rondot Vulcan print at last weekend’s V-Force event have now been posted on the museum website in the usual place!

Hi G1,

Two of the film crews were gathering material for documentaries that will air on BBC4 and BBC Look North (Inside Out) later in the year. As mentioned before, links and heads-up will follow when broadcast dates are known! 😉

The third item went out on BBC East Midlands last Saturday and sadly I missed it and it didn’t appear on the i-Player; the BBC web link to the event was http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-17885714

I guess whilst mentioning Falkland related items it would be worthwhile reminding everyone about
”Sailing With The Queen” the AHL event that givees a different look at the Falklands Campaign i.e. the QE2 sailing off to the Falklands having being modified to carry troops and land helicopters! 🙂

In the light of the V-Force reunion last weekend I thought that it might be appropriate to post details about another item that features some of the stars from last weekend – this is a new video entitled “Reflections on Operation Black Buck” that has just been released by Aviation Heritage Lincolnshire and it can be viewed by following this YouTube link!

Perhaps Mr Hatton will be along with some more information!! 🙂

It’s been a busy week at Newark settling down after all of the ‘highs’ at last weekend’s V-Force event; hosting a couple of visits etc. – however a couple of updates have been added to the website’s News Page!

Falkland’s Anniversary talk

Has anyone booked tickets for AHL’s Falkland’s Anniversary talk ‘Sailing With The Queen’?

AHL still has tickets available and the talk is now listed on the BBC Hands On History website!

Proceeds are going to the ‘Flights for Life’ charity. 🙂
