The Wallace in the RAF Museum is a replica….

:confused: The Wallace at Hendon is based on original fuselage frameworks recovered from woods near RAF Cranwell by the founders of Newark Air Museum in the early 1960s!

On 2nd & 3rd July the museum will be providing facilities in the Southfield Site for the Waddington International Airshow Helicopter Shuttle Flights – as a result the museum opening hours have been extended; further details can be found in this section!

…Regarding Newark, I have upgraded my display to a full Sea Hornet PR.22 cockpit now, so if anyone wants to talk “woodwork” I’ll be more than happy to chip-in…. 😀

Don’t anybody post the answer! But if we’re honest with ourselves (and it won’t work if we’re not) I think it will be very revealing to those of us who have been so outspoken if we don’t know where the codeword for breaching of the Eder Dam came from and the irony behind it!

How many of us have got the integrity to admit they didn’t know? Anybody?

:confused: Sorry about that jw – if you PM me an address I’ll check my lists and get a copy sent off to you on Monday! We have had a few copies damaged before delivery into Salop, but I wasn’t aware of any not being sent off!! 😮

Likewise Calvertonps sorry about the missing venue, which has now been corrected – well done on the first post as well!! 😉

Just heading off on another delivery run for this free publication so I thought I’d post a quick update:

After this morning’s trip to the PO more than 100 individual copies have now been sent out all across the world.

Around 2,500 copies have been left at the various locations detailed here.

Lots of interesting feedback and ‘fresh’ information received.

Only just over 7,000 copies left to circulate!! 😀

Sorry I should have been clearer re the Dominies – they are still at Cranwell but I believe that their next destination is still open to speculation – I have also heard South Africa mentioned!

…T/O mention of Dominies, what has happened to them?
It seems like the MoD try and ask too much for some airframes, while seem very helpful to museums in others (ie Nimrods).

I believe that it’s something to do with ‘the market economy’ – some airframes command a good potential purchase price, whilst others may cost a lot to ‘return to parts’; ‘recycle’ or dispose of – whatever the ‘in-terminology’ is this week! 🙁

Mixed stories re the Dominies – Kemble? USA??? :confused:

Also remember ‘most’ disposals are a tender based process rather than a price being set – apart from possible reserve price!

An amendment to the cockpit listing has just been made, which now shows a Sea Hornet PR.22 cockpit is participating! 🙂
