I’m now hearing that Witham St Hughs Parish Council is now also getting involved with another ‘reunion style’ event on August 21st – I’ve put them in contact with Aviation Heritage Lincolnshire!

Telephone call received this morning confirming the BBMF Lancaster flypast on Saturday 18th โ€“ final time to be confirmed late next week! ๐Ÿ™‚

Site layout preparations now firmly in hand for the event in 11 days time, although the positioning chalk marks may have already been washed away! ๐Ÿ˜€

With this in mind the Canberra PR7 WH779 cockpit has been moved into location behind the museum cafรฉ.

However the most important decision today was the agreement and allocation of the โ€˜refreshment budgetโ€™ for Saturday eveningโ€™s festivities!! ๐Ÿ˜€

Footnote – 4 more Aeroboot pitches have been allocated in the last 24 hours! ๐Ÿ™‚

As a special treat I’ve just arranged for a mini-album of Beverley photos to be hosted in this section http://www.newarkairmuseum.org/gallery.php of the museum website – photos of XL419 and XB261 – but please be aware that in particular photo 3 isn’t very nice!! ๐Ÿ˜ก

Apologies for the poor quality of the 1977 images from the museum archive – not the best scans from Truprint lustre paper! ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

The cockpit of XB261 survives here!

Whilst the cockpit of XL149 (ex-Finningley) was saved by Newark Air Museum in 1977 and now resides at Aeroventure.

Lee – looking forward to getting a copy of the publication; plus you need to fix the book link in your first post – you need to maximise the opportunity!! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Nice set of photographs – they even had an ice cream van on the static park back then, but I bet no one complained! ๐Ÿ˜‰

    Update 04.06.11

The museum is still looking for local (Nottingham) coupon collectors for the Nottingham Post Cash for your Community scheme: any assistance greatly appreciated! ๐Ÿ™‚

Addendum: I forgot to mention any funds that the museum secures will go towards the postage costs of mailing out the Aviation in Nottinghamshire booklet โ€“ more than 80 individual copies have now been sent out by post and over 2,000 copies distributed to various locations, where people can collect them from.

Whilst on the topic of assistance I understand that a prospective crew member for a certain airworthy V-Bomber has undergone some cockpit familiarisation in Vulcan XM594 this week!

I missed this thread before – were you aware of this ceremony in early May?

The Association’s AGM is slated for Newark Air Museum on 4th September 2011. ๐Ÿ™‚

Canberra Anniversary Reunion 21st May 2011

Just a brief reminder about the Canberra Anniversary Reunion this Saturday (21st May); a general get together of former Canberra air and ground crew; open cockpits etc more details here.

The museum has started to receive a steady stream of telephone enquiries so we seem set for a reasonable turnout โ€“ donโ€™t forget the flypast by the BBMF Dakota! ๐Ÿ™‚

Time wasn’t on XS417’s side – I did even try to get it ‘lifted’ from Binbrook to Newark by the USAF and British International Helicopters, but again timings weren’t on NAM’s side! ๐Ÿ™

That said – even now XS417 is still helping live airframes!! ๐Ÿ˜‰

We do – so far 2 already to Canada and 1 to Australia; plus circa 30 posted to individuals in the UK!

Still trying to secure financial support to cover further anticipated postal costs via this scheme!

Starting to deliver to Nottinghamshire Libraries later this week!

There’s also a PDF version available for emailing purposes!! ๐Ÿ™‚
