I will take your suggestion about the external pitches back to the trustees for consideration. Whilst IIRC we haven’t had any wet events we have certainly had cold ones – hence where the free tea and coffee idea started. As we start to further develop the Southfield Site we may have a changing circumstance regarding the grassed areas outside Hangar 2, which may become more hard standing based – planning permission’s been granted for this work in the last 10 days.
That said I’m slightly confused about people not being able to get stalls – when we sell out we operate an ‘informal waiting list’ for stalls and last week as a result of two late cancellations a couple of people took space on Wednesday / Thursday – but I’m not aware of anyone else waiting for space. Again I’ll try and check this out.
As far as ‘Autojumbles’ go on the Showground these now run every month so we might be able to co-ordinate something. In June there’s also a Kit Car Show running on Cockpit-Fest weekend and I believe that we’ve got approximately 100 TVRs booked in ourselves. To be perfectly honest wherever possible we try to avoid arranging events around Autojumble days because of the traffic problems we encounter for around two hours in the morning!
Back on to Aeroboots in April 2012 we’re going to try something a bit different – on Saturday 28 April 2012 we have another V-Force event running; so on Sunday 29 April we will have spare marquee space so we’re planning to host an expanded Indoor Aeroboot Sale using Hangar 2 and the marquee. It’s still in the planning phase – but the dates have recently been confirmed!
