Not sure whether this counts or not, but the paint on the fuselage section of IX(B) Squadron Lancaster W4964 WS-J at Newark is original.

…I don’t know, maybe Newark could do something around a crew which went through the HCU there. I’m sure there must be letters and photographs….

The crew aspect is already partially covered at NAM with reference to a developing story of a 1661 HCU crew that was lost on Ops with 619 Squadron in June 1944 – ME846 and featured on this education DVD!

Ironically the ‘current story’ is due to be featured as ‘Object of the Week’ when it’s updated tomorrow. As for the paperwork aspect – would you like to see the Wireless Ops Caterpillar Card or his POW i.d. used to illustrate the web article? (Unfortunately current website limitations mean we cannot do both at the same time) – Interactive aviation heritage is alive!! 🙂

As for F100s, T33s and Mysteres, they have featured about these parts before and highlight some of NAM’s early pioneering VAT battles – yes there is a lot of duplication but they helped many groups become established; where would the UK preservation movement be without them? :confused:

I personally don’t have a problem either with either ‘visitor’ or ‘customer’; sometimes specific funding sources require other phrases e.g. many recent grant applications have seen people become ‘users’, ‘non-users’ or ‘stake-holders’, it all depends on what’s the in phrase at the moment.

IMHO the need to listen to and work with people rather than against them, far out-weighs the importance of what someone is referred to! 🙂

‘Flushed’ with pride in those thoughts – the WCs tend to be in the top five most important factors commented on by visitors to almost any venue; NAM’s were already due for an upgrade in early 2011 but now that the leak has damaged the ceiling in the ladies, that work will have to be expedited! 🙂
