Well you did ask about the engines – my understanding is that they are all leased from the manufacturer!! 😮

    …The man’s shameless! 😀

“Shameless” – can be an essential mindset when you’re trying to help a registered charity with some very exciting development work that’s in in the pipeline! 🙂

    Scott,

NAM’s actual ‘take-offs’ were covered photographically both here and here!

If XM594 ever gets ‘airborne’ due to snow like NEAM’s Vulcan did earlier this year, then I’ll start to believe in global warming!! 😉

Late last week some of my snow photos taken at Newark did the rounds of the aviation press and I received an absolutely brilliant reply from the editor of one Canadian magazine – “Looks like a fine spring day from where I sit!” 😀

Back to a more serious point – are you guys on ‘snow patrol’ again, the forecast looks a bit grim for the next few days?

    Photo CD Mystery

A bit of a long shot but here goes – one day last week the museum received a CD in the post with the wording “White Vulcan 25/11/10” written on it in green marker. Unfortunately there was no note or letter with the CD and no discernable postage frank on the A5 sized brown envelope. Does any forumite know who might have sent it to the museum?

The disc contains several excellent aerial photographs of the museum site taken during the recent snowy conditions and some views of the snow covered Vulcan XM594. Also on the CD were some aerial views of Nottinghamshire and Southwell Minster.

The museum is keen to track down the ‘aerial photographer’ as it would like to use some of the pictures in the members’ newsletter and wishes to seek their approval first; plus we would like to give an appropriate credit!

Any leads would be appreciated! 🙂

    Pre-ordered items NAM Shop

A polite reminder has just been added to the museum website about the collection of pre-ordered books and models before the museum closes at Christmas. Please have a quick look here if that applies to you! 🙂

….As for BAe selling the aircraft on… I’m not sure if the airframes don’t still belong to the RAF, not BAe. Also, a lot of the kit in there is still classified and wouldn’t be sold on to any old nation looking foe a sub hunter.

I think the whole thing is a real shame. As for seeing the MR4 go to museums… I don’t know what museum would want a failed MR4 over a historic MR2 or R1?

Just to clarify – the MRA4 airframes were being offered by DE & S (Defence Equipment & Support) not BAe.

I’m with you about who might be interested, although the letter did try to invoke a comparison with “…interest that continues to be shown with TSR.2.”
