I stayed there in April for the 619 Squadron Association Reunion (yes other Squadrons were based there as well!) – an excellent location and an enjoyable atmosphere. A couple of years ago I organised a 619 Squadron related event and that was based there – again excellent with all aspects of the arrangements!

    News Update โ€“ 6th July

As mentioned earlier on another thread several updates have been added to the news page of the NAM website. These can be found in the normal place!

Of particular note to โ€˜Cockpiteersโ€™ are the dates for Cockpit-Fest 2011, which have now been confirmed as Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th June 2011.

Also included is a traffic alert for anyone planning to visit NAM later this week; plus a details of some new books that are now available in the Museum Shop.

As yet the Nimrod situation remains unchanged โ€“ NAM is still hoping!

Whilst at NAM today it was good to see further work underway on the TSR-2 wing section! ๐Ÿ™‚

…. A collecting policy isn’t a prerequisite however they do give museums
credibility and in some ways help in reducing needless duplication….

As an accredited museum it will be! ๐Ÿ™‚

That’s the plan – when it all gets sorted out! ๐Ÿ˜‰

I understand there are several updates due to go on the NAM website tonight – but sadly none about the R1!! ๐Ÿ™

I’ll post on the ‘Briefing Thread’ when they’ve gone live! ๐Ÿ™‚

Nice C17 on Sunday morning, excellent Chinook display, large USAF static component on Independence Day etc etc!! ๐Ÿ˜€

You obviously picked the wrong day msf!! ๐Ÿ™

Hopefully the Waddington Airshow has continued to raise significant funds for some very deserving national and local charities!

Looking forward to 2011 already!! ๐Ÿ˜€

Is the lonely looking Nimrod the one earmarked for Newark Air Museum?

……. I saw the Seahawk taxi out, but dont think it flew. shame, as I have never seen this a/c fly.

Allegedly ?? some things hardly ever seem to change!!

The Sea Hawk flew on Sunday!

It will be interesting to see the visitor figures for the individual days.

I was fortunate to fly in on the Helicopter Shuttle on Sunday at 9am and there seemed to be very little traffic coming in from the Newark / Hykeham side of the airfield. Even the pilot commented that “traffic was a lot lighter than Saturday!”

IMHO there were also fewer people around Hangar 5 than in previous years and there also seemed to be fewer trade stalls.

Other than those observations it was an excellent Show – well done the Organisers and all the personnel at Waddington for all of your hard work! ๐Ÿ™‚

I know, that’s what I thought! There’s more to say about the IWM’s attitude to this course (the future of which is doubtful) but that’s another thread..

At the last BAPC Meeting at Snibston it was advised that BAPC are seeking funding to try and allow the scheme to continue in some format – hopefully they can get something sorted out!

Edit – I am doing my course at Duxford. I mentioned this when being interviewed for an admin job with the IWM there – and I felt the level of interest in the room drop through the floor!

 An interesting response when they’re a ‘partner’ in the scheme! http://www.nahsi.org.uk/

A few days ago I did consider saying I would run the flight line in a mankini if the Vulcan made it to Waddington. I would be hesitant to make that bet now :D:D:D:D

๐Ÿ˜ฎ They never mentioned that possibility in the Press Briefing yesterday!! ๐Ÿ˜€
