Some Airshow updates now appearing on http://www.key.aero/ – even some of yesterday’s no shows have arrived this morning!
It’s looking better and better!! ๐
Can’t wait to get back there on Sunday.
Also hearing whispers of some World War I (era) airframes due to stage through Syerston later today; also advised that Team Viper practiced there yesterday!! ๐
I remember when Newark’s aircraft was thought to be the sole remaining FR9….
‘Pedant mode’ – FR.9 (Mod) please! ๐
:diablo: I thought that bit of news had been embargoed until Saturday morning!! ๐ฎ
Good ‘Press Day’ yesterday with some interesting snippets of information, which will no doubt come out in the media over the next few days. A couple of cancellations to the preview due to operational commitments, but a nice bonus with an R1 returning mid-afternoon โ smoke and all!! ๐
Some good themes for the Show that allows for some ‘pyros’ to be used – they’re still doing updates here!
Don’t forget that it’s a major fund raiser for various national and local charities!
Couldn’t let the opportunity pass without reminding people that the Airshow Helicopter Shuttles are operating from Newark Air Museumโs Southfield Site on Saturday and Sunday; plus NAM will be open 8am to 8pm both days!
Support Waddington International Airshow! ๐
PS – yes the Hunters were nice to see; the Classic Flight aircraft; plus the Turkish F5s!
New TSR-2 display under preparation
A while ago I posted details about these parts about a TSR-2 wing box section at NAM โ I am pleased to report progress is now being made in getting this object ready for a new display at Newark. Some additional details plus a picture can now be found on the NAM News Page! ๐
Any thought of including cockpits used in the various RAF Phantom Simulators on the list?
I know the location of the ex-Wattisham unit!! ๐
Thanks for the kind words – I’ll make sure everyone is aware of this thread! ๐
I trust that you didn’t have any problems collecting the engine at the weekend!
We’re trying to get WOS to firm up the date for 2011 – but at present he’s suffering from P.T.C-F.D; he normally rallies after Waddington!! ๐
How could I really keep it quiet? Itโs just not the done thing!! ๐
It has the makings of a very interesting display. The collection that was displayed at the V-Force event was really impressive, even more so when the owner started to relay the stories about the different items. The key now will be to capture and tell those stories effectively.
IIRC there were some Victor panels amongst the collection but Iโm not sure which aircraft they were from and the particular stories they told!
Sounds like something good to aim for. ๐
Are you looking to work on airframes; on artefacts / objects; do research; or is it just anything connected with aviation?
ello, Iv’e just finished my GCSE exams and iv’e got nothing to do over the summer, so i was wondering if any museums/groups need a young volunteer, i’m quite knowledgable so that isn’t a problem.
Cheers
Out of interest (background research for a young volunteer project) what sort of work / jobs would you like to get involved with? ๐
Update 28.06.10
Great to report that the excellent Cockpit-Fest / Aeroboot event has contributed to June 2010โs visitor figures at Newark being the best recorded since 2003 โ thatโs with three days still to go! ๐
Nearly a quarter of the tables for the autumn Indoor Aeroboot have now been reserved.
Details of a new display that is currently under preparation at NAM have been added to the website News Page! ๐
Not even warm – enjoy!! ๐
Saved me a journey!
:diablo: Iโm really offended now โ so Iโm not going to tell you about a new V-Force related panel display thatโs being prepared and includes some Victor material! ๐
