….but seriously while that thread did cover some interesting ground it didnt seem to reach any conclusion or concensus?
What would you expect on a web forum Mark? 😮
I guess the question still is –
“does the type justify the effort?”
and without that question answered it doesnt matter “who might do it?”regards
Mark Pilkington
Joking aside – yes it does justify the effort; IMHO the Shackleton’s Cold War role is grossly underplayed and requires greater representation and interpretation – something that Newark aims to do as part of its ongoing audience development activities. 🙂
If we’re not careful the Nimrod could suffer a similar fate!!
When the remaining Victor K2 fleet was put up for sale there were only two takers. Duxford never even asked. Hence why 164, 161 and 190 went for burning. A lot of the lads would have happily helped newark if they had applied but I don’t think they did.
Slightly off topic Gavin but are you aware of the Tribute to the V-Force event at Newark next month? 🙂
VP293
I understood (from a post on here I think) that VP293 had moved on from Norman.
Anything Shackleton related would be a good move! 🙂
Now showing at Newark Air Museum!
Details of a new mini-cinema area that has just been built in Display Hangar 2 at the museum have just been added to the News Page of the museum website. 😀

Aircraft Recognition Quiz
Only two days left to win those prizes!! 😀
Thanks for that John – much better than the picture that was briefly on the museum website! 🙂
Afternoon 12jaguar,
I’m over at NAM tomorrow to host a school visit (Science – Principles of Flight) so I’ll check up the size details etc and get back in touch – many thanks for the offer of assistance. 🙂
I don’t believe that they have!
There was a whisper that someone had one for sale at the autumn Aeroboot and the hope is that it might make its way back here on April 17th! 😀
Sorry if the weblink doesn’t work – the new site host is having a few glitches at the moment!!
Indoor Aeroboot – April 17th 2010.
Pictures in bound!
As alluded to in post #40, when the support wheels have been fitted the fuselage should be moveable and this will enable it to be relocated to a more ‘restoration friendly’ location on the site.
Ashton
Totally gutted – I took a forumite inside in the autumn and was surprised at the state! 😮
I can email you some pictures if you like!
Website back!
Finally Newark’s website is back running on all urls! 🙂
However still no news on any new acquisitions though – Nimrod or otherwise!! 😉
A day’s a long time in aircraft preservation!

I’ve not seen it on the list yet! :diablo:
IMHO I would still be cautious!!
