It certainly does if you’re into V-Bombers.

The first ‘non-museum’ aircraft I went inside was a Victor at Marham in the early 1970s; followed by pictures in front of a B52 (on exercise at Marham) and then IIRC pictures in front of the station’s Valiant gate guard! Not a Vulcan in sight!! 😮

Pity about the ‘126 format’ pictures – happy days!! 😀

    Update – 17.03.10

I was over at Newark yesterday and I’m pleased to report that work on refurbishing the Argosy procedures trainer is now pretty much complete, with most systems operational again. New operating procedures are now being prepared before ‘flights’ recommence!! 🙂

Also work is underway on raising the Ashton fuselage (ex Woodford & Cardiff), which will allow temporary support wheels to be fitted – allowing restoration work to start on this former flying test-bed aircraft. 🙂

    Chris,

I took this picture this afternoon along with pictures of each of the individual headstones. If you would like a set of higher resolution images please PM me your email address and I will send through copies.

Although I have visited this section of Newark Cemetery many times I must confess that I hadn’t appreciated the significance of the close arrangement of these 7 headstones. Thinking of each of you tonight!

Out of interest Chris, I passed through Lambley to and from Newark this afternoon, but as the comment to Peter below shows it’s a small world – Canadians again on the crew. You must also have been typing as I was downloading the pictures! 🙂

Peter & Jack Russell – I paid my special respects to ‘Herb’ Warne before I left this afternoon and to all the brave souls buried there!

Sadly – that’s me about out of photo space on here; what can be done Mods??

    Newark Events

Thanks for the prompt Air Ministry – how could I forget the one alongside Cockpit-Fest. As per previous posts from now on all stalls will have to be pre-booked – no more just turning up to sell. The dates for this are June 19th & 20th 2010.

After all the efforts this week to address the ‘revised rules and procedures’ I’ve lost track of things a bit!! 😮

If Newark’s new guidelines work without too many issues – hopefully there might be another Indoor event at a date to be confirmed in the autumn!

    Chris,

I am visiting newark Cemetery tomorrow to visit my mother’s grave, if it helps in any way I can call over at the war grave section and photograph the grave.

    Regards TO23

    Cockpit-Fest 2010 & Indoor Aeroboot

I have been advised that all the 2010 Cockpit-Fest information has now been sent out by the organiser; including a new procedure to cope with the much debated topic of ‘instrumentation of a certain age!’

If you haven’t received any details you can register your interest via the Cockpit-Fest item on the News Page of the museum website.

Likewise all of the passes and new rules for the April Indoor Aeroboot event on April 17th 2010 have also just been sent out to those people who have booked tables. As previously mentioned, all future Aeroboot events at Newark will require sellers to pre-book their spaces / tables. No longer will you be able to just turn up and take a stand on the day.
