I severly doubt that Elvington being redeveloped to become a Biz airport will have any impact on the museum aircraft from venturing on the runway. The Cranfield guys manage fine, as do the guys from XL426 at Southend, and that is a busy airfield!

Its not likely that the Victor is going to affect the operations at a small Business airport just because it doesnt fly!

If the stock was left over from the summer airshows then fair point. If it was ordered for the Christmas Market then of course needs to be taken into account. Either way seems a good profit for fundraising in just a few days. Unfortunatly its going to need a lot more. I for one hope they can raise enough to complete another year’s display. Didn’t get to see her this year but really want to.

Been doing it for more than 35 years Bubbles; in a thriving organisation; long before any post on a web forum; and I’m very proud of my continuing contribution to the British aircraft preservation movement!

Plus over the years I’ve had various dealings with the Bruntingthorpe set-up at many different levels – as I said earlier good luck!!

Now im no expert but i would say getting a £6k return from a £700 outlay was a pretty good return. But then again if they had made millions on the stall the members of this forum would still find a reason to pull it apart wouldnt you? As one of the members who froze my nuts off on the stall i can tell you that what stopped us from making more was running out of stock not customers.

As always it depends how you analyse it.

Was the £700 just the price of the stall or was it the stall price and the cost of your stock?

Was the £6,000 actual profit or your total takings?

Being really picky, knowing that the Lincoln Christmas Market is always well attended why didn’t you have more stock?

Having done a lot of this type of fund raising in the past I know that the effort involved often far out-weighs the real return – would the time and effort invested by those people over those three days have yielded a greater return doing another fund raising activity?

At the end of the day all credit for making the effort.

The Andrew Schofield DVD about the SAAF Mk 3 Shackleton 1722 was launched at Newark in August 2007.
