. . . pssst – I do have the nose cone as well by the way 😉 taaa
Morning all – just thought i’d post a few pics as it stands at the moment 🙂 There will be a period of inactivity bar the sealing of the various holes, etc until the new year – but all parts and information greatly accepted!!!
Cheers
Sure I heard from my days at Binbrook, that it took the whole contents from one tank to get them airborne!! So usually took off with them empty then found nearest Shell garage to fill them up . . . maybe a Binbrook myth, but who knows :o)
Morning all!!! Well, needless to say the neighbours have all been talking about it sat on the drive – but in a very positive manner!!! Talk of the local community for a while now since I brought the nose cone back!!! Even wifey likes it!!?!?
Plan is to restore it as best as possible – got a fair few bits and pieces sorted already thanks to a chap down south!! Later today (Sunday) it’s going across to a mates workshop where he’ll be making a trailer for it while i’m on me holidays!! Then first plan will be to seal up all the big holes for the winter – especially the big one at the back!! Rip out all the wiring as the only plan internally is to have lighting to the instruments and cockpit area. Looking to make contacts at places where they have old 125’s sitting around on airfields to grab a few vitals!! Been quite badly hacked in places – nothing to do with the chaps at NEAM I must add, but needs sorting :o) for example, the nose cone hinges – instead of undoing 4 x bolts per hinge, it’s been grinded off!! Mmmm . . think the bolts may have been an easier option!! lol . .
Hoping to have it some kind of fit state to bring along to Cockpitfest next year along with my other ongoing project – my Landy!!!
Paint scheme – my 2 young lads want it painting as a Dominie (red/white scheme or black) although a more attractive colour to look at, not acurate for the aircraft – suggestions please guys!!!
Right – oorrrf to football now!!
Just like to say a big Thanks!!! To all the guys (and girls!!) I met up there the other day when I poped up to look over my new project – the HS 125 . . hopefully, once I get it back down to Nottingham, I can do it justice.
Also, just have to say what a superbly run and very well organised museum you have up there – a credit to yourselfs!! Not to mention how friendly and helpful with everything you’ve helped me with to date. Hope to be back up there week on Sat to collect the 125 for her journey south – so if there’s any of you want to come along and help lift it onto it’s trailer for the journey 🙂
Cheers all
Andy
Now you’ve got your chance to get one over here :o)
If we all club together!!!

What a sight!! In this day and age when we read about VC10’s being retired/scrapped – feel priviledged to see 2 flying in formation over Nottingham about 10.30am today . . shame I didn’t have my camera to hand!!
Gorgeous site about 5.30pm(ish) flying over Keyworth in Nottinghamshire, heading towards East Midlands Airport at about 5,000ft – a pair of VC10’s!! Been years since i’ve any of these flying around. Made even more spectacular due to the clouds and sun lighting them up as they flew over. Even my wife commented on them lol . . 😀
Just have to mention the Typhoon flying a very low and very tight ‘figure of 8’ over Preston city centre last Tuesday about 4.30pm . . I know most locals probably get used to fast jets from Warton – but this bad boy stopped everyone in their tracks to look up at . . very impressive!!!
Mystery Area . .
Hi all . . was/is the old MSF (Missile Servicing Flight)
I was based there for a few years (1988 – 1990) and worked in ASF (hanger just behind 5Sqn). Some great great times there, such a shame its come to this even though it was bound to happen I guess :o( nice photos though, certainly stoked up the memories this morning :o)
