Welcome aboard! Lisbon is an interesting city, and the airport has some interesting movements, but spotting is not so good! The airport is a bit of a dump and gets very hot in the summer, we only found one good spotting spot and that was on some motorway petrol station under one of the approach paths, I bet I could never find it again though!
Shame you couldn’t get direct flights, as then you would have had a good chance of flying on a BA 744!

Very nice pics, good to see olgdd Jemima still plodding along IOM-LGW-IOM-LTN-IOM-LGW-IOM every day!
And believe me, I have seen much worse 732s from Ryanair than that!

LBARULES, thats the first I have heard of that theory, previously I hadn’t a clue what they were registered like that for!
THe BA registrations have some kind of a pattern to them in pretty much all cases, and I saw an explanation for everyone once!
    Heres what i remember though:

    Airbus Fleet:
G-EU** Europe – Nice and simple!

    ERJ145 Fleet:
    G-EMB* and G-ERJ* Very Obvious

    Dash 8 Fleet:
    G-BRY* Operated originally by Brymon

    Boeing 777 Fleet:
G-VII* VII is Roman for 7
G-YMMM MMM is Roman for 2000 (Year 2000)

And for Aurigny something that Wysiwyg told me:

G-GNT* for the Saabs, they came from Business Air (I think!) whose callsign was Granite. G-RUNG was registered after a Mr Rungsfeld (Again, I think!) who owned or had an interest in the airline.

They are the only ones I can think of at the moment, although as I said I think everything had a reason.

Ah OK interesting, thanks. Is it quite commonplace for people to be on all 4 planes at LHR SH, or is it just 1 or 2 usualy?

OneLeft, I assume you are on the LHR SH fleet, you have said you flew on a 319 and a 757, are you allowed to work on all the SH fleet from LHR, 319, 320, 757 and 767, and when the 737 was there that too, or are you restricted to certain planes based on training?

Taking off depends completely on the runway in use, however the only way you can really see things take off is when they are on 27R, up by the visitors centre.
Landings are far more interesting though 😉

Very nice shots there, I especially like the Dash 8 because you can see the wheels touching the ground.
Disoncerting for most people but incredible for us 😀

As for setabelts and refuelling I think it is a legal requirement for seatbelts to be OFF when the plane is refuelling, and can only be switched on when the refuelling has stopped.
It is slightly amusing to see the looks on peoples faces when they have sat down in their seat and done everything as you are supposed to, fastening the seatbelt included, and then being asked to take it off again by the cabin crew!

Yes all the Fokker 100s seemed to have vanished from LHR, except for the ones shuttling back and forth from LBA, replaced by those 319 thingy’s 😉
Nice pics Andy, you got more in the full frame then I gave you credit for! 😀

Like I said it did seem a little weird for a 738! Would be a prime candidate for an SAS minline Q400 though?

I saw that BBJ departing Farnborough this morning, presumably departing up to you 😀
