Well those gates are not used just by BA, many of the North American airlines use it as well, as well as many middle eastern ones. That is probably the main reason.

There are 2 different fleets of 767s within BA, the long haul and the short haul ones. Crews are all trained on them both, and the planes are identical apart from the cabin layout.
Planes used on Worldwide services have First and Club cabins, and the economy cabins has communal TV screens used for showing IFE, and I believe these are being retrofitted with PTVs. Athens, Larnaca and Moscow use SH 767s, but Tel Aviv is the shortest route with Long Haul ones. The longest 767 route is the Seychelles, a 13 hour flight via Nairobi.
There are 18 SH 767s and 10 LH ones, although this looks set to change this year.
However with the current fuel crisis BA are keeping their options open with regards to replacement of these aircraft, although they have been trying to get rid of them for some time without success.

I think its the 84 bus to Langley, and then a short walk, but I think its quicker that way than via waterworld?
If you put a date up on here when you decide to come down there are lots of us on this forum that frequent LHR, and we can easily show you the best spots.
Probably a good call for another LHR meet?

Happens pretty frequently really, crossing from T4 to use the North runway is the bane of ATC and pilots life at LHR, sometimes people are slower crossing and quicker landing than expected, have seen this happen once or twice before.

AFAIK GE just do the maintenace at Cardiff, and that is only on 747s and 777s. 767s and 757s are maintained at LHR, with 737 light maintenance at LHW and heavy at LHR, with BACX using GLA.

They will probably be gone from the UK by the end of the year. There seem to be 2 different fleets of Tupolevs, the 154Ms which come to Europe and the 134s which go into the CIS, with A320s coming in rather steadily. There are still 10 or so of the older A320s floating around, and enough of these should be picked up soon to get rid of the 154s.
Can anyone provide any more info on Balkan Holidays? They are what used to be Hemus air I believe, but with the collapse of Balkan everything in Bulgaria seemed to change around a bit.
Also are there plans for the TU154Ms to be removed from Europe in the next stage of noise reductions?

Happens no more in Russia than anywhere else, and what proof have you got that incidents are not recorded. The days of the USSR secrecy are long gone, hiding a crashed jet is rather difficult nowadays.

Nope, the 757s keep on breaking down.

Edit: Fact by the way, about 2 757s a week seem to be sufferring from pretty serious problems. Last week one went ou in Budapest meaning a long haul 767 was used all over Europe, this week another one has gone wrong meaning G-BNWB is being used on shuttle routes.
This is the first I have heard of 777s though, although last week a 747 went to MAN due to about 300 people being booked on it, so its possible thats why the 777 is there now?
