Amazing stuff mate! Simply incredible to see what the place looked like all those years ago. The Historian in me is just as interested in all the service vehicles as the aircraft though, something I can only recall in Matchbox toys! 😀

Maybe Ryanair are only going to come in if they expand the runway threshold area. This would be a very good bargaining tool to use to get their planning approval as it will be seen as guarenteed local investment rather than some business plan on paper.

Thats going to take an awful long time to get through the planning stage though surely, particularly with all the oppositon that would come from the BFS camp?

The same problem applies with building even a temporary structure under the terms of the rather arcane operating restrictions the airport has to endure? I’m not even going to pretend to have a knowledge of them all, but I have a feeling even a small development like that would be difficult to achieve?

CRJs are simply awful aircraft. Try asking any frequent flyer which they’d prefer, an ERJ or a CRJ, and every single one you speak to will tell you with no hesitation: ERJ.

Personally I try and avoid both (No First Class on AA’s RJs!) but I’ll happily sit in an ERJ for a few hours if I have to. CRJs are just painful, especially if you are over a certain height.

Great shots, what was the reason for the recent visit(s)?

I’m guessing oil related with visits to Houston?

It has a Wild Bean Cafe, selling a decent selection of hot and cold snacks.

Ah yes, I had forgotten about that. They do some rather good muffins I seem to recall!

There is a petrol station just alongside Myrtle Avenue which is the de rigeur spot for Hatton Cross spotting, rather than the station.

There is also a small newsagents in the station itself.

Expect the good old ice cream van to be around at some point in the day too 😉

Great stuff Adam! You really coped well with the constraints of an airshow and got some nicely formed close ups.

Not an easy task to pull off!

Rain, mud, getting lost, walking for miles, falling off walls…ah I havent had a good day out like that for ages now!

Great stuff Paul, must try and meet up with you again somewhere over the summer sometime!

I am just starting my 3rd and final year of International Relations at Leeds.

I certainly echo everything said above about the city (couldn’t be happier there!) but send me a PM if you want to chat a bit more about the course, and the POLIS department etc.

Right on cue, a TNT 146 was indeed in today. OO-TAH

The 2 AN74s shuttling around today are ER-AVE and ER-AVD

The KS Avia ones and the Atlantic/Enimex one are pretty regular too, but don’t seem to be in today.

(In case you hadn’t guessed, my current location is Farnborough, not Leeds 😉 )

Carrying race horses for Royal Ascot. Expect more of them throughout the week. I wouldn’t be surprised to see the odd TNT 146 in and out too.

Both are pretty regular for the local events.

Nowt to do with poor loads. Its all down to GSM achieving the unachievable and screwing up their operations even worse than FlyBe have.

How anyone in their right mind can make a booking with either airline at the moment is beyond me. BA’s dreadful LHR operation shines in comparison!

I went to Tokyo for the weekend back at the start of the year – £300 on BA 😎

Although not Osaka, Tokyo gave me the impression of Japan being a really incredible country. Lots and lots to see and do, great friendly people (all those you are likely to have any dealings with will speak perfect English) and best of all such a clean and efficient place compared with the UK and Ireland!

That fare is a bargain, and Emirates are a very good airline. Their service standards are slipping at the moment, but in terms of the product you get in Economy, and a simple DXB connection, you should have one of the best series of flights in your life I imagine.

See if you can work a free stopover in Dubai at the same time too, although with that fare its going to be pretty restrictive I guess?
