The MAAF/DEFRA 228 has been about for the last two days. I felt strangely at home after hearing that very distinct sound of the Chinook while walking through the city centre this afternoon, they are almost always over my house down south!
Jetstreams are probably more fun since they may be less noisier than Q400s. Just a guess though.
You clearly havent flown on either then. I’ll give you three guesses what the Q stands for in Q400!
Well IMO it would be harder to go any slower.
Q400s fly at virtually the same speeds as 146s
If you want to go slower try a Jetstream, or worse a Trislander!
thanks. Two more questions. How much are flybes fly on board? What is the klm economy service like?
Its around £3 for a sandwich and a £1 for a drink, average stuff. I didnt pick up the magazine this morning so not sure exactly, but its around that. Certainly nowhere near £50 😀
Unless you are followng a specific schedule and require the use of Eastern’s 4 times daily service, go for FlyBe.
Save yourself £50 and splash out a fiver on FlyBe for a drink and a sandwich knowing you are on a more comfortable plane, travelling faster, and have saved (by that point) £45!
Nothing new in there really, BA has always stated the A380 doesnt really fit into its network, and has been saying so explicitly for about a year now.
As for the frequencies theory, that is very much a focus of its westbound operations, but not really for anywhere outside of America. South African and East Asian flights all operate within a few hours of each other, with Hong Kong being the best example of this. India is fast becoming the same, although wont really be in the same territory as HKG for another few years yet.
As has been said by the airline all along, their long haul fleet replacement strategy will take the whole operation into consideration, which is firstly why it is taking so long for them to make a decision (and will continue to do so, I cant remember what the latest timescale WW has given, but it is certainly years not months) and is also why I dont believe there is any real favourite between the aircraft manufacturers for the job.
I assume it had just landed and its reversers were still deployed. They do taxi for a little way off the runway with them still engaged before cleaning up sometimes.
I was going to say pretty much the same thing as diesel1, I dont think it was anything more than a bit of standard practice accounting.
Popular or Profitable?
Profitable will be difficult/impossible to work out.
Popular you will be able to work out with the help of CAA Route Statisitcs. This will only help you on routes with which Ryanair has no direct competition, as the stats are only done by route, and not by airline.
Nice shots mate, hope your enjoying the car 😀
This is quite a useful site:
http://farnborough-aviation-group.co.uk/
The best place is the Eelmore Bridge off the Fleet Road that links onto the Pavillion Road and Laffan Track. There is good parking there, and you can take photos quite easily through the fence.
The problem is that when on the predominant runway 24 you are only usually able to get photos of larger aircraft that use more of the runway length. When on the less used Runway 06 the spot is absolutely perfect.
PM me if you need more detailed directions on how to get to the Eeelmore Bridge.
Happy birthday mate!
Isn’t there a viewing area at heathrow still,im taking the lads in June and hoping to see something in relative comfort. 😀
dave………
Simple answer is no!
Not sure about gates but here is an airways plan:
LIFFY2A LIFFY UL975 WAL UM16 DOLAS UL603 TEBRO T150 BEGOK T150 ROLIS ROLIS1W
I assume you are talking about the Reanaissance. I stayed there last September, its OK for viewing, but the windows are unopenable, and are quite thick which can cause problems for photography. I gave up after a while, but here is one of mine from there.

TBH you are better off standing by the perimiter fence and shooting through it…
