Hmm it wasnt particularly interesting tbh, just the same old stuff they always show on these programmes 🙁
Oh and congrats on 2000 posts Matt, I just saw you pass it on this thread 😀
A bit ridiculous it not even being on here in Hampshire either. Thankfully we have Sky+ so its on record whilst my sister watches Charmed [Shudder]
I advise you to take something to stand on – 30% of my holding point shots had fence in the corners of them
Unless you are taller than 6ft in which case you can see over the fence with ease (unlike these two) 😀
These flights have been on their route map for quite a while without an official announcement.
As for days, routings and equipment? Probably every other saturday via the Isle of Man in a Metroliner if past experience is anything to go by!
Deano, its quite easy to shoot through the chainlink, the holes are wide enough to get decent shots through.
Have to like the Air India shots best out of the last bunch.
What is that blue painted area under the cockpit glass?
We were trying to work it out, none of us quite knew
Thanks Grey. We were by the perimiter fence near 27L in the morning for the hold point shots, and then just moved across the road to Myrtle in the afternoon, after a short spell at the industrial estate under 27R.
Oh and Andy, its May now, April is long gone 😀
And finally a shot of wannabe pilot as I know he really wanted me to post this photo.
Yes, he does look this gormless in real life 😀
Certainly is FP.
We had quite a good variety of traffic, including the King of Jordan’s A340, and an Air India 747-300 Combi, the latter of which I did not get a very good pic of due to the fluctuating light 🙁
The Blue Peter 757:
Nice meeting up with you again Andy. Sadly shortly after you left we got the rain and some even worse lighting conditions, however after almost throwing in the towl we were rewarded with some lovely light from about 1700. I’ll try and get mine up shortly, on a different thread so bmistar wont moan at me 😀
Nice to see pics from there, as its somewhere that is nigh on impossible to get shots from.
The only direct flights to Saudi are operated by Sauid Arabian airlines, bmi are supposed to be starting a new LHR service soon though.
Might be worth trying to gleen information from the AAIB. Its a bit before the time of the internet so there might not be a report there, but worth having a look around:
