I shall be there tomorrow as well, reaching Whittlesford about 11.15. Anyone else coming?
Geoff.
I have my England flag displayed in my front window. The museum will no doubt be flying its England flag from the flagpole as usual on St George’s Day.
Geoff.
So who’s going to Duxford this weekend????? π
Geoff.
Latest update.
Terry Clark (219 Sqn) will also be attending this event on the 15th May. This brings to ten the number of BoB veterans attending. The other names are Bob Doe 234 & 238 Sqns, Gerald βStapmeβ Stapleton 603 Sqn, Tom Neil 249 Sqn, Mike Croskell 213 Sqn, Robin Lucas 141 Sqn, Nigel Rose 602 Sqn, ‘Paddy’ Barthropp 602 Sqn, James Corbin 66 & 610 Sqn, and Jack Riddle 601 Sqn.
We’re hoping to add another two names to this list, so stay tuned!
There will be two signing sessions, with the morning one starting at 11am. There will be a break for lunch, followed by the afternoon session, which will probably end about 4pm. For those of you wanting lunch, there are four pubs in the village π
There will be a limit of three items to sign per person, but those wishing to get further items signed can ‘go around again’. The fee per item is Β£20,which will entitle you to the signatures of all veterans singning on the day.
Any further nrews will be added to this thread.
BTW the museum is also open on Saturday 8th May, as well as Sunday 9th May.

I have ‘30.9.41 – Engine failed South west of Cape Wrath, force landed Sandwood Bay, Sutherland, Sgt Kilburn safe.’
Geoff.
Good idea Septic. Perhaps we should have a forum get-together at Hawkinge this weekend, and see for ourselves?
Geoff
Allan,
Our museum is not that big, so it’s not too difficult for our volunteers to keep an eye on our visitors. Anyone producing a camera or notebook will soon be spotted.
If our not allowing unrestricted photography means that some people don’t visit our museum, then that is the price that we have to pay. It’s a shame that people chose not to visit a museum because they can’t take photos, as they are depriving themselves of a good day out. Personally I would not avoid a museum for that reason, but if they want to do so it’s their choice, and their loss.
Geoff.
You’ve caught me up! All the best Kev.
Geoff.
Rocketeer – Many thanks for your comment re the presentation of artifacts at our museum.
As I said in the other thread on this subject, we too have a no photography rule which is there to preserve security, and to prevent the occurance of any ‘stealing to order’ by preventing anyone building up a list of what we have on display. This is one reason why I don’t post very many images of the museum on this forum.
Geoff.
Cheers PL.
It’s for a pencil sketch so black and white is no problem.
Geoff.
Cheers Martin. I’ll pass them on to the artist.
Remember folks it’s ‘in-service’ RAF images I’m looking for.
Geoff.
Great photo PL, any more?

Geoff.
Sounds like I missed a really good day.
Kev – have you contacted the museum yet?
Geoff.
You can meet a Battle of Britain Defiant pilot, Robin Lucas, at our signing event on the 15th May. See separate thread for more info, & further names of those attending.
