Are you sure it isn’t a Triumph Stag?
The double negative is a complete No No.
Many thanks for the info. My faith in the forum has been restored.
Wasn’t that photo on Crimewatch the other week? Something to do with sheep I think!!!
Just over a hundred people have looked at this page. Surely someone must have some ideas? Are there no Lanc/Linc experts on the forum at the moment?
Having posted the photo, I did wonder if they could be Maritime Recce Lancs? I only thought of them as being FE because of the light camo scheme.
Thanks for the suggestions anyway. Anyone else have any ideas?
What about Lancman and the other Lanc bods?
Mark,
The info I gave is from the 131 sqdn Operations Record Book (ORB). The ORB also records that de Hemptinne was posted in to 131 sqdn ‘for flying duties and with a view to being considered for the post of Flight Commander of the Belgian Flight.’
When he arrived, he had the rank of P/O but the 131 sqdn ORB records that (On the 6/9/41) he was ‘promoted to the war substantive rank of Flying Officer with effect from the 30th July 1941.’
Looking through the 131 sqdn ORB, I can only find 3 recorded flights by de Hemptinne whilst he was with the squadron.
On the 24/9/41, Flt/Lt H.A.C Gonay ‘was posted in from No 64 squadron to fill the post of Flight Commander of the Belgian Flight in the squadron’.
Thanks for the info, but having posted the question, I found that I could reduce the size of a photo below 100KB by editing it using Paint to reduce the size of the image by 50% and then as you say saving it under another name.
You can supply your own caption for this one!!!
The landing wasn’t THAT bad, I didn’t break too many bottles.
The new RAFA mobility scooter!
Not an airshow photo, but spotted fixed to the TFC Wildcat, April ’95
