Is the transponder still acting up?
I assume so because she’s not on PlaneFinder or FlightRadar24. Only thing to do is keep trying I guess.
I wonder how much extra Internet traffic has been generated as a result of this flight – I noticed this morning that http://lancasterbomberale.co.uk/tracker has exceeded its bandwidth allocation. I bet the aricraft tracking sites have also seen an abnormal spike of interest in a single registration.
Hopefully the tracking will work better today – I’ll be watching her in if possible, I’d imagine that today’s leg of the journey is the longest Lancaster flight for many years. Wonder how many….
Good luck and I hope the Merlins run sweetly for you guys!

From the twitter feed – and I’ve just tried it – the Lanc isn’t currently showing on Flight Radar, but is on http://planefinder.net/. Seems to be about half way there for the day…
The departure to the UK has been delayed until 10 am local time Tuesday… Thanks for your patience.
Very good of the aircraft to flag this issue to your attention while spares are easily accessible in the hangar! Good luck for tomorrow, I’m sure that everyone on this side of the pond realises that safety of the occupants and venerable old girl is paramount.
Looking forward to meeting you guys, I’m booked in for a hanger tour at 14:15 on Saturday!
Really sorry to hear about the aircraft and think about the hours that it took to get it in the air in the first place (and how many more it’ll take to get it back up there where it belongs) but as always it counts as a success story when the pilot walks away.
I saw the Fury at Duxford this month and was thinking what a wonderful aircraft it was, the speed and sound with con-trails streaming off the wings. I was talking to friends and managed to get a couple of shots of it. Wish I’d spent a little longer watching it:

It was also the subject of one of my favourite shots at Flying Legends last year, as it tore up the airfield at great speed:

I look forward to seeing it back in the air.
Some nice HDRs there – isn’t it pleasing how they still have the HDR effect when you desaturate the colours?!
I particularly like the Laurel and Hardy one and also the rainy Mustang. The only annoying thing about some HDRs is that you get a halo effect around the subject but that seems to work very nicely indeed for the black and white Sally B Fisheye shot. Good work!
I had thought there’d be more interest here on the forum in this, particularly from the Poms, since Les Munro was a key member of the RAF’s most famous bomber squadron. Oh well…
Hi Dave,
Cheers for making this (and the other 70-odd episodes!) available to us – I think there’s plenty of interest but people often don’t bother to post thanks or any comments, which is a shame.
I’m off now to listen to part 70!
Hats off (and sun-blushed baldspots!) to the organisers for this year’s show. As someone else said, even though there were a fair few aircraft missing from the flight line, it was still varied and appeared rammed. I went both days and enjoyed a few different shows on each day. Highlights for me were the 4 mk. 1 Spitfires (is this the last time we’ll see them flying together?) the Peashooter on Saturday, the Constellation and the display by the Sea Fury on Sunday. What a sound!
The only aircraft that I really missed was the P47 Snafu. We were luck to see her the last two years I guess.
I stuck some photos in the Photographic forum but they never seem to get many views there – if anyone’s interested the links are: Saturday and Sunday.
Will we see a Blenheim next year?!
Wow – thank everyone for the replies – very useful.
I’ll tackle the questions in order:
Chumpy: Yes, the screws are brass, slightly domed and with a philips (cross) head. The AGS 2002 nuts look to be the things although there doesn’t appear to be anything written on my ones. I’ll measure them later on and see if they fit any of the sizes in your attached image.
Whitley_Project: Sorry, no I don’t have a thread gauge to measure them but as you can see they’re reasonably fine.
Bruce: I’ll look up the AN screws and compare.
Scramble Bill: We were really annoyed when they appeared on the Antiques Roadshow as we were just about to start buying scruffy units to refurb and suddenly everyone thought that the scruffy ones were worth as much as the ones on telly. Oh, and a whole lot more people started buying the units. Prices pretty much doubled as a result. Grrrrr!
Skyskooter: Cheers for the link – I’ll take a better look when I’ve got a minute.
Paul178: Yean I agree – sadly ours currently looks rather more shabby and a lot less chic. There’s a lot of work to be done but it’ll be worth it!
BFN!
Yes. That’s Dan Griffiths.
Thanks for all the replies – in that case the man’s a legend 😉
Yeah – just click the YouTube text in my original post. Enjoy!
Great Typhoon shots – I totally failed to get a decent one of that. Nice to see it with the Spitfire, too. Cheers!
By all accounts no body was stopped, reports of many people in the field.
also looking at images posted on some of the forums, it looks like it was open as normal.
Ah – was that today (Sunday?) – I wasn’t there so can’t comment. In that case, maybe the weather kept them away on Saturday. It certainly appeared empty then. Cheers…
