I’m still howling (as was Vanessa) at Melvyn’s one-liner about “One day my Prince will….”!!! (I won’t finish out of respect to any younger readers who might see it).

It’s ok, I think we’ve corrupted our younger members already! 😀

That IFR probe does look very chunky and cumbersome. So presumably the probe was a permanent feature, and couldn’t be removed then?

Wow stunning shots, thanks for posting them Steve.

Is that an IFR probe on the 23 Sqn Javelin?

The Cat’s out of the bag, the present Mrs EN830 has sussed that maybe there was little intention of getting to the airport in time for the flight. Bugger, I thought I was convincing !!!!!

Sounds like hard hat time to me!!! :p 😀 😀

Today has been a bit of a rollercoaster emotionally, the funeral was the final goodbye, followed by a celebration of Steve’s life with the Chippy display, topped off nicely by the Rapide.

Ian you did a wonderful job in preparing and binding all the condolences messages, Julie was very moved by this act of kindness and friendship and I’m very proud of you also.

Melv, it’s never easy to stand and speak at a funeral, particularly about someone you knew so well. You never faltered, and did Steve proud.

Sadly I never got to know Steve in person, but from what I know of him and photos of his life in the village hall, the banter and fun had this evening at the Duxford Red Lion would have made Steve proud also.
Today friendships both old and new have been forged and made stronger. I too am proud to be associated with this forum and the people in it, and it was really nice to meet many more of you, including our American friend Steve Patterson.

Wherever you are Steve, may you now rest in peace and know that your friends and family gave you the fitting send off you deserve.

Hendrix gay? Wash your mouth out my boy! 😀

Whether he was or wasn’t, he was still one of the greatest guitar legends ever! 😎

Very nice axe mate! Yesterday I was looking for a new keyboard, and found a nice brand new Korg Triton LE, I’m so temped to buy it as it’s about time I got back into giging again! 😀

Two beers duely raised this evening by Snaps and myself, in honour of a fellow enthusiast and a really nice bloke. 😉

Sadly we never met, though had talked via PM’s. We had planned to meet up at DX sometime over this year and I am so sad that it’s not to be.

My condolences go to Julie, Haydn and the rest of his family, and to those who knew him as a close friend. Somehow the word tragedy doesn’t seem enough to describe his passing. 🙁

    Rest in peace mate.

Is it really that important, if the thread says riat or waddington then dont look. Your not forced to view the pics, like the name though “plane junky” erm?

It’s not a major issue no, more of a niggle really. I’ve just expressed an opinion, to I’ll go and hide in the bushes again now! 😀

I admit to being surprised to see the RIAT threads here but there is historic content and, somewhere, it does say airshows for this particular forum.

It does, and that’s the point, why aren’t they in the civil forum for example? They don’t belong there either, so the argument for a seperate airshow section is a vaild one. 😉

I’ve been here before too, and I agree totally. I’m tired of seeing pics of modern aircraft such as the Eurofighter Typhoon in “Historic”, though when I said that about the Tornado, the answer I got was that many are in Museums, therefore they’re historic!

The airshow pictures posted here are great, and it’s good to see pictures of Old Warden and Legends, but it’s time for a specific area (away from historic) for shows such as RIAT. 😉
