Slow burner of a film about the transmission of a global epidemic.I thought it was very good, not much happens it’s no action film but very well played by it’s all star cast.It gives you the feeling that this is what it would be like 8/10

Saw the piece on this on Inside Out this evening [BBC One in London i think ]
I thought you made the case for the removal of these three names

    Private August SANGRET
    Gunner Arthur KEMP
    Private Theodore SCHURCH

from Brookwood Military Cemetery very well. Hopefully items like this in the media will help highlight this travesty. The statement from the relative of WAAF Miriam Deeley was especially moving.Pity at the end it was mentioned that the M.O.D had no intention of removing the names at this moment in time.

B17 I meant. B17 LoL. I had just been on Wiki looking for a B29 picture for summat else.

It’s been posted on here lots, but……
    http://www.ww2f.com/air-war-western-europe-1939-1945/39582-stricken-b-17-guided-home-bf-109-pilot.html

Thanks for that PeeDee, I thought the B29 was a bit off which was one of the reasons i enquired about the story. Nothing suprises me about things that happened in WW2 so it could have been true !!.

The actual tale 109 escorts B17 is an amazing tale and proves that war is not black and white , good guy bad guy.

Humour is very subjective no matter what time period. It will be liked by some, outrage and offend others and just pass some people by.I like comedy and comics from all years. Some has made me laugh out loud [Billy Connolly] ,some has made me smirk but none has ever offended me,even if i thought it was near ‘the mark’.IMHO there is nothing that can’t be made fun of but everything has a time ,a place and an audience. As the old saying goes
    it’s horse’s for course’s.

    My 2 cent’s worth

Quite… The Thing From Another World
[” it’s an intellectual carrot “] is not even in the same league as the 1982 adaptation of John W Campbells 1938 story who goes there ?

    remember “Keep watching the skies.”:D

    Fate is the hunter
I just hope the book by Ernest K Gann is better than this rubbish.Though i am led to believe it has very little in common with the film [hopefully] 2/10

    The Thing [2011]
Well i expected more and sad to say i was disappointed. Never comes close to recapturing the unseen enemy feel of John Carpenter’s original. It’s only saving grace is a few nods to the original that follows the events in this film timeline wise.Didn’t care much for any of the characters, and whoever thought Mary Elizabeth Winstead could pull off the lead role was sorely mistaken. 5/10 Watch the 1982 classic instead.
