Im curious what the turning abilitys of the straight wing/straight tailplane Phantoms in the pics that Distiller posted are compared to regular Phantoms. Im sure the dihedreal in the wings count for alot of loss of lift in high AoA turns. And the anehedral of an all moving tailplane will loose alot of effectiveness as it points backward instead of just down when actuated in a turn.
The Tomcat was a great fighter, and its a very good comparison to the F4U Corsair which was pretty much the best US WW2 navy fighter as the P-51 Mustang was the WW2 version of the F-15. Its really a shame that it started out with bad engines, as that really tarnished the image of this bird. Had the Soviet Union not fallen, I believe it would have stayed in service along with the F-15 and F-16.
What was the purpose of the extreme dihedral in the wings and anehedral in the tailplanes? I believe they they were considering a smaller version with J-52 engines without dyhedral.
fun fun fun
Heres a couple more Strike Fighter shots showing the proper way of doing a sim:

With that CPU and Graphics card, you cant afford DDR RAM? Ha Ha Ha

Any good screen shots of F-4’s that AREN’T on the receiving end of a missile? 🙂 I know that’s probably a sin to ask, but hey, it’s me afterall..
Here you go Phanatic, an F-4 thats not on the recieving end of missles, just on the recieving end of 3 mig-17s.
I mentioned in before that in the quick combat part of LOMAC, I wasnt able to pull in behind a Mig-27 despite going way past the g limit at many different airspeeds. There is just something wrong with the physics. I think Strike Fighters is by far a better sim. The graphic quality is much better and I think has more realistic texture lighting effects than LOMAC, as well as better cloud and haze effects. I dont really see why LOMAC is supposed to be so graphics intensive, as it doesnt really look that much better than Flanker 2.5 to me.
You would think they would finally correct the movie with 3D graphics by making some hypothetical russian superjet, but no, its F-5Es all over again.
Its not really the cost but the consumption. A very small jet like the L-159 uses I think a 1000 gallons. An oil barrel holds fifty gallons, so try and imagine how much it would cost to empty 20 oil drums into a jet every time it flys, and a jet like the F-15 or Su-30 taking maybe 5 times that much.
It depends on how you define AI. Any kind of machine that analyzes data about an external event and then makes a non-preset choice is using AI. So even the microwave in your kitchen has inteligence so to speak.
