Make a lot of money and the girls will come lusting after you – not the other way round.
But…Wouldn’t you guys prefer a girl with character and personality, rather than one who worries about the calorific content whenever they chew on the corner of a sheet of paper? Not saying that they are all like that but obviously 99% of them will ruin it for the rest! – Nermal
Yes I would prefer that, infact thats exactly how my girlfriend is, just sort of average looking, but very caring and likes to kiss and hug me. Ive had my fill of the young attractive ones where I have to prove myself just to be in there presence. A major pain in the neck is all I get being around them.
Im not so sure that high speed /low level flight was that bumpy for the mirage III. From what I read, south african pilots say it was very smooth. It is said that the mig-21 was underpowered compared to the mirage III. The mirage III though not manueverable in the traditional sense, its elevators acted more like airbreaks in a turn, and combined with a very low wing loading means it could turn out of harms way, though it wasnt in much of a position to do anything once it was out of harms way. In my opinion it still good in the low level attack role and nothing else.
EWwww. Paris Hilton hit every branch of the skinny/ugly/bony tree coming out. 😮
I refer you to boney kneed Gweneth pic above sir.
I think in general it is good that women with normal type looks are movie stars instead of women who had fashion model looks as it was in the past. The problem is that these new plain Jane looking actresses are 10 times more vain and concieted than women who really are “gorgeous”. Have you seen Andie McDowell in those shampoo comercials trying to make those “alluring” looks? Eeeewgh! At least someone like Paris Hilton who is very attractive has a sense of humor about herself, and isnt trying to push herself on anyone, unlike the two wenches above Kidman and Paltrow.
I get so sick of hearing guys say that eyes are the first thing they notice about women, like they read playboy to see womens eyes 😉 . This pic below should stimulate some of you.
There was a number of reasons for this, one of the more important and mundane ones is that Spain simply ran out of timber to build large fleets with. The Armada simply used most of Spain’s oak forests.
Since Britain had northest US as colonys, that became their supply of Oak when they ran out of Oak forests.
I think the Catholic/Protestant struggle had alot to do with it Ben. And to say it was backward to be allied with the Hapsbourg empire is a bit strong.
It should be noted in the battle of the spanish armada that the spanish were using carracks which were ships with high castles built on them for hand to hand fighting whereas the british develeoped galleons used to take advantage of more powerful canons being developed at that time to making the ship itself a weapon. Firearms were becoming a dominate weapon on the battlefield as well. Since the ships themselves did not need to fight side by side against an attacking enemy, they were able to be made lower, doing away with the big castle structures which in turn made them faster and point higher. Fireships were effective against ships in port when the attacker had weather guage (wind advantage). The ships were covered with pitch to make them burn longer. The defenders had to row out and try and stop or divert these fireships before they could do their damage.
I believe the Dutch fought land battles also to secure their spice trade outposts in asia. Incredible when you think of the huge amount of time it took to sail there.
Im really curious what the computer specs required for Rome Total War is going to be. Ive seen some screenshots, and the detail is very high in the soldiers. I heard they are developing a special game engine to support that much detail. They are supposed to be making the economic/logistic part of the game more user freindly.
Plawolf- I agree that most RTS games are just Age of Empire clones. But still it takes quite a bit of skill to play well, sort of like that board game stratego except that economic factors come into play in choosing your troop strength as well as timing. A booming economic strategy wont work against someone who knows how to do an early fuedal rush.
Medieval Total War is the ultimate. Thats the kind of game you wake up in the morning and play all day for 2 days straight. The economic and map strategy part of that game is idiotic. Between each “year” you just spend like 2 minutes closing message windows about trivial junk that doesnt even effect the game. Another game I recommend is Tropico 2, which is sort of a combination between Age of Empires and the Sims. Building an island economy is very realistically done in that you got to keep track of where slaves are employed, distance they must walk, you have to maintain anarchy for your pirates or they revolt if it gets too orderly. Another I like is Pirate Hunter with a slightly expanded version called Port Royale, very fun fast paced pirating. The same developer did a game called Patrician III with the same type of game play, but based on the Hasiatic League of Northern Europe. Im trying out a game right now called Combat Mission: Africa Corps which is turn based combat. I cant really get a handle on it yet. Id like to mention the absolute best RPG Ive tried is Gothic II, very well done.
I thought russian defence contractors could only be 1/2 foriegn owned and still do russian defence work.
The costs of materials vary, depending on what grade or quality you want. Metal is easier to work with than wood, and is an easier material to understand. Don’t forget wood was once a living thing, and therefore may have been subjected to diseases or accidents which have weakened it’s structure. It’s also susceptible to moisture, which can dramatically alter it’s properties.
Fascinating stuff, wood. As a complete aside to your question, I was shown a pair of original, but non-airworthy, wing spars off a Bristol Fighter a couple of years ago. “Wow,” says I. “These must be about eighty years old then?”
“Nope,” came the response. “More like two hundred. They were over a hundred years old when they got converted from tree to aeroplane…”.
🙂
I dont know how you can say that metal is easier to work with than wood unless your dealing with a kit with metal parts that have already been cut or pressed into shape in a jig. Id say wood is as easy to work with as fiberglass in that the veneers can be molded into almost any shape. Yes wood was a living thing, infact it never really dies unless it decomposes. Wood will last thousands of years if properly cared for. The most important thing about wood is how well it is seasoned. Water is the biggest enemy to wood which can cause swelling or cracking which is why wood should be properly protected by a sealant. Things like disease and “accidents” I dont think are that big an issue as that really only affects the outer part of the tree, and can be readily detected early on. Wood has fantastic compression qualitys which is why it is still used as spars in sailplanes. It is also stiffer than composites and in my opinion is not used simply due to predudice of the average persons perception that it is “low tech”.
If the US would allow foriegn bussinesses to go in and do rebuild the country, the Iraqi economy would quickly take off and there would be much less content from all the jobless Iraqis. It would also give a democratic Iraqi goverment plenty of work to manage the influx of all this bussiness. The US is simply trying to corner the market and monopolize on rebuilding Iraq and is simply holding down Iraq from developing properly to create the impression that its a chaotic country that needs the US. I think enough people in the US are tired of Bushes arrogant bluster, and watching US soldiers die that he will vote for Kerry simply for the sake of seeing Iraq handled responcibly. I garantee all the violence in Iraq will stop when Iraqi oil wealth is allowed to be used to rebuild the country uninhibited. And those “anti-democratic terrorist forces” that Bush is forever trying to stamp out will suddenly disappear.
