I think if thought about right turbo props might be the future of CAS.
needs:
-to be easy to maintain
-at least 1-2 short range AAMs for self-defence and be able to carry more AAMs for helicopter hunting.
-A2G ordinance
-at least good speed
-at least good range
-at least good payload
-can operate from any sort of unprepared runaways
-affordable(to be built in larger numbers)
-vital parts under the aircraft to be protected(like pilot and other things)Would be an excellent sort of helicopter killer and anti tank platform, could perform limited strike missions but mostly for CAS to be operated by the Army.
The Skyraider fits the bill perfectly. Carrys a huge warload of 10,000 lbs, has very long range, speed is plenty high for COIN role, affordable (if put back into production) and easy to maintain, very ruggedly built and can withstand alot of damage.
Does anyone know when 512 mb cards will start coming on the market?

MS Paint will work in a pinch if you dont have photoshop. Just go to image>stetch/skew and you can reduce it by percentage (you sort of have to guess at the pixel measurment.

Theres another name for this leading edge flap besides slat. I think slat must be a british term or something.
Rick- Can you show any more photos of that Su-27 looking plane, looks very interesting. The shape of the nose is really a nice improvement, other than that its hard to tell whats changed.
The Vietnamees (both North and South, there was actually no division as far as the Vietnameese were concerned) were simply fighting for their freedom and would have fought till the last man had the war gone that far.

Wow, you really believe that? Guess these people i know well are no Vietnamese…and according to you, freedom they finally got
When the US pulled out of Vietnam, they left a lot of people high and dry. Keep in mind when Germans were defeated in WW2, 56,000 people were immediatly executed in Belium for aiding the Germans.
One thing that needs to be revamped is the smileys. The big teeth smiley is gettting old. And I miss the devil smiley.

You have to read the the Little House series of books by Laura Engals Wilder. The TV show is a hollywoodized corruption of the books. The books really give a good feeling of what it was like to grow up as a settler long ago.

Had the politicians stayed out of it and enabled us to actually fight the war, the outcome may have been different.
The outcome would have been that we would have had to kill everyone in Vietnam. Vietnam was one country. Had the US allowed election instead of propping up the capitalist government (notice I didnt say democratic), Ho Chi Mihn would have won both North and South sides of the country. It’s a site set up by people from Vortex’s end of the US political spectrum.Alway lumping China in with the Evil Empire.
You know whats interesting is that Vortex is asian-american. Sure their are plenty of conservative asians in the US, but vortex actually thinks that the Vietnam war was a good thing.
I hate to say it, but the photos of military hardware on that site are better than 95% of the military sites on the internet.
