Russian Radial Powerrrrrrrr…. And no, these clips are not that well-known (yet)… 😉
The link at http://www.omroepflevoland.nl/nieuws/nieuwsbericht?Lang=nl-NL&newsId=87109 is in Dutch only, sorry for that.
Summary: about twenty organisations, commercial companies, “culture foundations”, private individuals and the local council have teamed up for some sort of “Rescue Plan”.
Main goal is to avoid the collection being auctioned off.
There will also be a nationwide campaign to try and rally the general public behind this “Rescue Plan.”
Here’s hoping! 🙂
According to http://www.luchtvaartnieuws.nl/nl-NL/Article.cms/Algemeen/Failliet_Aviodrome_vrijdag_voor_het_laatst_open
the Aviodrome museum’s last day of admission will be tomorrow, i.e. Friday. Weekend visitors for the Saturday can forget about it… 🙁

Please note that “Curator” in Dutch means “Official Receiver”, so a “Dutch curator” is generally not in the museum business…
What a curator is in English is a “conservator” in Dutch… 😉
Apparently the “Friends of the Aviodrome”-association has bought the Fokker D-7 replica project. It is still planned to have this aircraft finished to full “airworthiness”.
Apparently also bought were the Cessna AT-17 Bobcat “Bamboo Bomber” and the Stearman Hammond projects, plus various tooling.
It is said the “official receiver” (Dutch: curator) is still in talks with the Libéma group for a takeover.
http://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lib%C3%A9ma is a Dutch-language Wikipedia page.
This Libéma company now already owns the former automobile museums at Drunen and Rosmalen, but not a single “classic car” now remains at these locations. 🙁
So it remains to be seen what happens with the aeroplane collection when the museum will actually be bought. 🙁
During a spotters’ day at Volkel AFB somewhere in the early 1980s… 😮

Apparently Dutch Starfighters did this more than once! 😀
The Aviodrome is now officially bankrupt… 🙁
http://www.omroepflevoland.nl/Nieuws/86272/aviodrome-failliet-verklaard
Er zijn nog steeds gesprekken gaande met verschillende investeerders die het park wellicht willen overnemen.
Zolang daar kans op is, blijven de deuren geopend. (But for how long  )
So: go visit the Aviodrome museum while you still can! Don’t know how long the theme park will remain open… 🙁
For those able to read Dutch:
Keep a close eye on
http://www.omroepflevoland.nl/nieuwsdossier/132/aviodrome , a so-called online “news dossier” kept up-to-date by the local TV/radio station.
Yes, the museum is still open, but you’d better visit the Aviodrome while you still can! 🙁

Don’t forget the Timewatch documentary at 17.55 hrs (18.55 hrs CET)!

Dramatised documentary telling the true story of how the HMS Venturer hunted down and sank the U-Boat U864 in February 1945, the only time two submarines duelled to the death underwater.
Eyewitness accounts, secret and long-forgotten archive material and a dive into the Baltic’s frozen depths bring to life the full amazing story of U864’s last hours.
This happened last month on the USS George Washington… 😮
