Now that both showdays have been called off, is it still possible to attend departure day next Monday??
No word on this in the press release…

What a shame… π

AIR TATTOO CANCELLED SATURDAY
Due to the unusually heavy rainfall during the past 72 hours, a decision has been made by the organisers of the Royal International Air Tattoo at RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire to cancel the airshow on Saturday, July 12.The cancellation of the airshow on Saturday follows a sustained period of heavy rainfall that has resulted in waterlogged conditions not only in the public car parks but also on the airfield itself. The decision was taken following consultation with the police and other safety services.
Air Tattoo Director Tim Prince said it was the first time the Air Tattoo had ever had to cancel one of its days in its 38-year history.
βIt is with great regret that we had to take the decision to cancel the airshow on the Saturday but the safety of the public is paramount.
βWhen it became clear that we could not guarantee the safety of the many thousands of people who had bought tickets for Saturday, the decision to cancel was straightforward.
βWe are aware of the inconvenience our decision will have on the many thousands of people who have bought tickets for the Saturday but the potential risk of there being significant difficulties on the roads, in our car parks on the airbase itself were too high.β
It is anticipated that the show will be held on Sunday but it will be only for holders of tickets valid for Sunday. A decision in respect of this will be announced by 4pm on Saturday.
Please note that Saturday tickets will not be valid for Sunday.
Refund details for tickets bought for Saturday, July 12, can be found on the Royal International Air Tattoo website at http://www.airtattoo.com . For further enquiries contact refunds@rafcte.com
Especially this bit is interesting…
“It is anticipated that the show will be held on Sunday but it will be only for holders of tickets valid for Sunday. A decision in respect of this will be announced by 4pm on Saturday.”
Does this mean that there will be no more tickets at the gate on Sunday? Or am I reading something wrong?
By the way, all flights by Holland Aviation Travel HAT for Saturday have been called off!!!!
From You Tube-
Definitely a “one-to-watch clip”!
Red Bull’s DC-6 visit to Antwerp was indeed expected at Antwerp but got cancelled. So, also no Propliner-visit to Deurne this Sunday morning…
Today I recieved issue 24. As always, fast and on time. As said before I do NOT at all agree with some subscribers complaining . It must be their National post service :o………. anyway here is the content π
Thanks for posting the contents and the preface Soundbarrier!
But I have to disagree with you re “National Post Service”. In Holland some people get their issues on time, others have to wait several weeks or even months!
It really is the distributor who is at fault…
The comments of IAPR nowadays practically being a one-man-show is rather worrying… Hope IAPR will continue to be published.
Thumbs down for distribution but a BIG thumps UP for contents!
been trying to chase it – nothing:mad:
Assuming that Airtime Publishing this time indeed keeps to the “one-issue-every-quarter-rule” it is now somewhat early to expect volume 24 to be already available.
I do know that volume 23 reached the Dutch
http://www.aviationmegastore.com/?shopid=LM483b45096e65164d86a8a12175&switchlang=EN very soon after it rolled off the printers, which unfortunately does not happen that often.
Yes, trying to obtain copies of IAPR can become a lenghty affair, even for shops … π
CL-44 Association will be closed down…
A very devout CL-44 fan from my side of the North Sea tried to get things moving regards the Guppy CL-44-0.
Alas, all his efforts came to nought… π
He wouldn’t mind now if someone else stepped in. π
The CL-44 Association is a very strict “No No” as this association will be wound up in a couple of months, see http://www.cl44.org/ for that.
In the past some organisations have put a superficial interest in perhaps saving the cockpit of this “one-of-a-kind” bird plus perhaps some spare parts.
If someone/an organisation still has a genuine interest into preserving at least part of the Guppy, then please contact Heavylift at Fax + 61 2 9232 4668 .

Crew is OK
According to
http://www.deredactie.be/cm/de.redactie/vlaamsbrabant/080525_zaventem_crash
four lightly injured crew members plus one who got away without a scratch.
Click on the image for some footage.
The 747 is now a write off of course but otherwise the crew was lucky!
The clock is ticking now…
Just read this at
http://www.pprune.org/forums/showthread.php?p=4090999#post4090999 :
“The Guppy was put up for sale yesterday for USD $25,000 without engines and props otherwise complete. Understand if not sold in 14 days it will be scrapped.
Contact Fax + 61 2 9232 4668 if you want to purchase and save it ? I guess this would be the last chance ?”
Those thinking about rescuing her had better hurry… π
