T3229 was an RAF Beaufighter 1c; seems to have served with 252 Squadron in North Africa.

Not being familiar with such things, I am struck by one point. Old or mistreated seals are suspect. Why, then, is there no mention of replacing seals, just replacing complete engines?

I take the implication to be that you can replace the engine with an overhauled one, even the same one overhauled with new seals etc.

The firebombing of Japanese cities was not indiscriminate, to a degree even more than Germany, Japanese was industry had decentralized.

So it was pinpoint distribution of incendiaries, each one aimed at a specific target and in no way meant for the timber built dwellings that surrounded them.
