I still have a Wolf 240v hand drill, works like a dream! Much more torque than newer types. As regards the OPs machine, my local steam railway has such a beast in regular use in their workshops.

I’m not surprised by this. When I went to purchase a model I asked if they had the British Airways landor livery DC10 by Gemini Jets and got the response ‘Is that a plane?’

I have always found the staff in their Liverpool and Chester stores helpful and knowledgeable; perhaps they misunderstood you? Even if not its hardly a reason for the whole chain to go to the wall is it?

Is that Haldon (hill) at the western end of the Exeter by-pass, overlooking the city, with possibly a race-track at the top. I have happy memories of ascending it on my Bonneville, oh! 50 years ago.

The same, the airfield was just North of the present A38 at the top of the hill as far as I can see.

My vehicle of choice for rapid ascents was a Mk I Cortina GT 🙂

There may be a reluctance to get involved if they think that the moor is going to get ripped open by huge mechanical plant and left in a mess, some reassurance may be required?

I remember staggering around the area years ago during an orienteering exercise. It was passable with care, but may have been a dry summer (we used to have them once!).
