I’d just like to add my sincere thanks to both men for the wonderful work they’ve done over the years. Like many other posters, I buy both mags every month and enjoy them thoroughly.

From what I dimly recall, I asked my late Dad this when I got the Airfix model as a child. He said it was dark grey and green to simulate shallow water close to shore.

And I heard popsy from plenty of ex-RAF aircrew in my African childhood days whilst referring to fondly remembered girlfriends, not strumpets.
Probably because most photos were taken of MkIs, as – according to this website – they had retractable tailwheels from the MkII onwards. Plus, the MkI was the biggest production run by far at 1014 airframes.
