I’m not sure what to make of that (to me) tactless comment, Anon. I’m stunned.
“he has another Merlin on a trailer with a paddle prop & exhaust stacks that look like the newer ones made in the Balkans (Romania?).”

Daz – hopefully Mark12 will be along soon to help with the mystery of NH238, but in the meantime Goodall says “moved to Greenham Common 2.04/11”.
The aircraft being used is Voodoo, everyone’s favourite purple P-51, although for the record attempt she’s changed her appearance quite a bit! Apparently the paint strip helped her lose several hundred pounds.

Word on the ‘net is that the attempt is being made in Idaho, but details have been kept under very tight wraps – I imagine to prevent crowds and the resultant pressure on the crew. Good luck Stevo!
Merlins going around the Reno pylons certainly sound very different to those passing by an airshow crowd! It’s otherworldly! I’ve only seen videos online and DVD footage, in person it must be amazing.
As an aside: when Steve Sr broke the record in the Red Baron he was 27. Amazing.
I’m keen to get a copy of the Air Ministry Pilot’s Notes on the Kittyhawk I (or straight P-40E) but, like Sopwith, everything I find seems to be on CD or digital download!
And the Mustang which the said 109 was said to have been!
Vote here for Nine Lives for sure.
Great photos all! Always interesting to see what’s happening at Duxford.
“What a lovely aircraft the DH9 is.” – hear hear. It may be ungainly in some ways but goodness me, is it pretty!
From what I’ve seen the wreckage still on the Falklands would be no good to anyone for restoration. Admittedly my experience is solely based on photos online, but those photos require a lot of imagination to figure out what you’re looking at!
I would love to see and hear a Pucara in Falklands/Malvinas colours on the airshow circuit but I expect that, as well as being costly, it would be a rather niche subject. I’ll probably have to keep my interest in the type to the 1/72 model I’m working on!
What Dave and Bruce said – you can’t compare TV959 with NZ2336! Completely different condition and situation.
Ridley Scott is his actual name, Scotland is the country’s actual name, and I’m guessing Les Taylor is that man’s real name too – you don’t need to use ‘quote marks’!
Has someone confirmed Scott’s production is a remake of the Guy Hamilton film? I keep seeing enthusiasts say so but am yet to read anything official stating it.
Another wow here! She looks fantastic!
And while in New Zealand (solely for the 1996 Warbirds Over Wanaka airshow) it was registered as ZK-CIX!
one of the worlds nicest Kiwis
To be fair, although he’s been here a long time, Graham was born and raised in Oz. 🙂
Fantastic news for the Kiwi scene and his example will be a great companion for his Nieuport and Dr.I. Hopefully some of the others stay here as the TVAL original isn’t seen away from Hood.
