They meaning Just Jane and a possible Shackleton as well as the BBMF example maybe?
I would think that “The Battle of Britain Memorial Flight Lancaster aircraft” would mean the Lancaster belonging to the BBMF, unless I’m missing another meaning or two of “The Battle of Britain Memorial Flight Lancaster aircraft”!
Interesting – I was about to post that some do have 2800s but any info I find online says F-AZXJ has a 3350.
What wonderful news!
Unfortunately work has blocked FB access on our PCs, but that means I have something to look forward to when I get home!
topspeed – I don’t think so, as the replica has much lower HP than the original.
I used to help keep preserved aircraft information on Wikipedia current in my downtime at work, but after trying to update the TIGHAR page to include planned/publicised projects – and to mention they hadn’t recovered any aircraft – my IP address was banned.
Errol – that’s probably our best bet as the NZ Civ Air blog post mentioned 2016, and Wanaka is probably a real long-shot at this point.
Great photos, thanks for sharing – and doesn’t that C-5 look fantastic? Very cool.
Are any of them restoreable to airworthy condition ?? Not that I need another project as I already have about 50 years worth stacked up and waiting their turn, but I have always had a “soft spot” for the Skeeter and also for the Bell 47 D, (the narrow bubble “wood winged” one)
Stan, were you to get a Skeeter I’m sure I wouldn’t be the only Kiwi enthusiast who would be over the moon! It would be great to see more vintage/veteran choppers in New Zealand.
TB252 is progressing well at AvSpecs here in New Zealand, here’s a photo and some info from August this year.
This German-Phantom-to-fly-in-the-UK story ranks right up there with the greatest urban myths of all time.
38+48 has UK serial ZK848 reserved for it!
Kenneth – will you be dining on chapeau or Humble Pie? :p
I saw the serial reservation news yesterday and got excited…even though I’m on the other side of the world! That being said, I’m still waiting on news that their Buccaneer has flown…
She’s back and looking great! I’m pleasantly surprised by the turnaround from nose-over to second flight. Congratulations to all involved! I has a stupid grin on my face watching the air-to-air video.
I concur with powerandpassion’s comments about Mustang51’s commentary at the Mosquito show. I can’t add to his post as he hit the nail on the head! I’ve heard him at other shows in NZ and I’m always delighted to hear/read his name as being involved.
Lovely photo Elliot! Looks like I have some reading material for my morning tea break at work today.
Keith – I’ve downloaded the model and ZK-AYR skin, I just need to pinch my fiancee’s laptop so I can actually test-fly it!
Like Errol I’ve seen AYR around the traps over the years, but I hadn’t realised she hasn’t been seen lately. Here’s a couple of photos to make up for it, taken from Fox Moth ZK-ADI of the same stable in 2009:

According to Wikipedia’s lengthy entry: “Schräge Musik derives from the contemporary German colloquialism for jazz music”
On the subject of “”in service”-looking preserved aircraft, Brendon Deere’s Mk.IX Spitfire has a lovely finish with exhaust stains accumulated over the past six years of operation: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:CF15_Supermarine_Spitfire_PV270_050415_02.jpg
