    Hi team,
Platinum Fighter Sales’ Facebook page has been active of late with updates on the dispersal of the former Connie Edwards collection of Spitfire IX (to Australia) and HA.1112 Buchons.

This morning on a Buchon post they said: “The planes will be going to UK, Switzerland, Australia and USA”.

    Let the speculation begin!

Having seen it, I can say that the quality of the workmanship is really rather good!

This is wonderful news! I’m happy to know work is underway.

Those are lovely photos Blue_2, thanks for sharing them.

Great as long as Youtube doesn’t crash with so many using it.

I watched the first engine run of the B-29 Doc live on YouTube, it peaked with around 2,700 viewers and only minor hiccups in my connection (albeit on the other side of the Pacific, with not-too-great speeds). Would 558 get a bigger audience?

** Final flight will be ‘live streamed’ on YouTube
so as many people as possible can watch **”

That’s wonderful news. Hopefully it’ll be at a time I’m able to watch it live. Cool stuff 🙂

I saw that! I’d gladly hand them over if I had them, the project coming to fruition would be reward enough for me.

I’m wondering what the Flying Heritage collection might come up with next? They surprised a lot of folks with their Sturmovik after all.
    Stuka maybe?

They definitely have a Stuka with a known identity, my hope is they will indeed “pull a Sturmovik” and one day simply release a photo of it flying. I wouldn’t say a Stuka “isn’t doable” by any stretch of the imagination.

I misunderstood Mark12’s post and took it to mean it wasn’t included – whoops! The lack of major coverage of his machine is understandable as the owner is a very private individual who shies away from publicity and prefers not to have his aircraft posted online.

    Thanks, Mike.

I saw the Merizan project (PZ474) a while back at Chino. I believe it went to NZ to be rebuilt for Rod Lewis.

PZ474/NZ2384 is indeed at Ardmore awaiting its turn in the Mosquito Aircraft Restorations/AvSpecs queue. It was the last Mosquito to fly on the NZ register until 2012, so I was very excited to see her return home!

I’m very surprised John Smith’s example isn’t included. That is shocking to me!

For those of us who don’t yet have access to the magazine, would someone be kind enough to transcribe the list of survivors published in it?

I suspect a Mosquito (or sadly a Beaufighter) would just result in furrowed brows from the masses.

Maybe it’s a cultural thing but every airshow KA114 attended in New Zealand, it drew in large numbers of spectators – there was an entire show centred around it three days after its first post-restoration flight and it was standing room-only. I doubt that the tens of thousands attending were all die-hard enthusiasts. In addition, the airshow at Masterton featuring her had attendance numbers larger than any other in its 14-year history. The aircraft was all over mainstream news media from before her first flight.

Hopefully to see a couple of Mosquitos flying in formation in the UK for a change.

I’d like to see a couple of Mosquitos flying in formation anywhere! Correct me if I’m wrong, but didn’t that last happen in the 1980s…in the UK?

Even though I’ve no chance of getting to any UK shows in the next couple of years, I follow with interest and excitement via the forum…and I think the next thing will be Shackleton 963! Or Just Jane.

Don’t forget the cuddly toy in the room http://www.kafejo.com/pu/img/tiggicon.gif….

I’m just glad to see there’s no mention of them in the latest news story!

    Also this:

The WWII aircraft is the only known one of its type in the world still surviving substantially intact

Wikipedia (I know, I know) has two other F-models in existence, one being “Glacier Girl” and the other being restored to flight by WestPac. I’m confused as to what the caption means?

It’s sure to be an amazing series of flights! I hope the weather plays ball.

Does anyone know if this trip in the same machine she taxied into a Robinson helicopter with earlier in the year, or a new one?

Thanks FP, I totally missed that!

Mike – I saw an Iskra or two in this year’s field, likewise a JP in the past and another (blue, different?) DH115. It’s always fun to see what pops up at Reno!
