Thanks for the info, curlyboy! Much appreciated.
I’m sad to see the AAM machines won’t be on the flightline during the show, that would make for some fantastic photos and experiences for showgoers.
I’ve read some discussion on this thread about the appropriateness – or otherwise – of the paint schemes on the AAM Mitchell and Avenger, is there similar sentiment among UK enthusiasts concerning the F-4J(UK) above being painted as a US Navy machine?
More superb photos, thank you everyone! It really is special to see these exhibits out and about.
And a brief video of her running up and taxiing:
The NZ Warbirds Association have an open day/mini-show at the end of the month, I’m crossing my fingers that NH799 will fly again.
I must say it’s wonderful seeing the B-29 outside like this, how great! I also love the photos of the Buchon and N3200. Thanks again for all the photos, team.
Funds pledged, at long last 😉 Good luck!
Errol, see if you can get some sort of two-for-one deal so I can join you?
Wonderful to see, and such an atmospheric photo as well. Well done to Achim, TAVAS, and the CAMS team – what a special machine this is. Bravo!
I hope they do fly it with the Hawk 75, what a special display that would be. I’m now even more jealous of all those who will be at Legends this year.
There’s a great front-3/4 view of the said beauty here: http://warbirdinformationexchange.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=55778
I may be half a world away but I’m very excited to see it fly.
Ando – aside from the info in the post JohnTerrell linked to, nothing else seems to have surfaced.
I love “surprise” restorations like this. How fantastic!
Mosquito: the article talks about B.IV DZ542 but the fuselage in the accompanying photo looks more like that of a fighter variant to me, given the “missing” sections of nose which are quite similar to the armament access doors on a FB.VI etc.
SAAF Spitfire: I too seem to remember it was being restored to static.
Thanks for the information, Rich. I confess I “Liked” the SOS page but didn’t donate as I prefer to donate to flying projects where I can (such as WR963). It certainly seems a confusing situation for the casual, overseas enthusiast like myself so I appreciate hearing more from those close to it.
Wellll, as Black Knight has mentioned it, it seems rude not to post a link to Nick Grey’s Gladiator article…
What a great read that was! Thanks for posting the link, Elliott! I was very entertained, hopefully I can find more articles from Nick on the site as his enthusiasm really shines through as he writes. And I wonder if Nick and Stephen are aware there’s a paper model of ‘NFM in the colour scheme Nick wrote of? http://www.ecardmodels.com/index.php/1-72-tiger-moth-g-anfm-great-britain-paper-model.html
Also it sounds like I definitely need to get this latest AM issue, whichever month it lands in NZ. My mum taped [i]Test Pilot[/b] when I was a baby and I watched it endlessly as a kid so I’m always interested to read about Dave Southwood.
Frank Parker in New Zealand has been flying the Omaka example since it first flew in NZ and has flown airshow displays in it, I’d venture he could be a great source of information.
