There’s a great, too-short video of the Caproni flight on YouTube:
Actors are often producers on films in which they don’t appear – for all we know this is the case and, given his history with the Vampire and flying in general and as such is simply on set to oversee and enjoy the aircraft? For me the biggest question is how this story can be turned into a feature-length film worthy of the expenditure such a production entails, as opposed to a short.
Last year a friend gave me several dozen copies of FlyPast from the early years – there are plenty of quizzes and similar competitions in there!
I can’t imagine how excited you and the rest of the team are about this one, Dave. Absolutely fantastic to see and hear!
Despite the damage that’s a great photo, thank you for sharing! Unfortunately my knowledge of ‘BCK’s time in the UK is limited to Peter Lewis’ comments earlier:
“G-ABCK reg 08/07/1930 to Cierva Autogiro Co Ltd, Hamble, England 16/12/1930
“Arrived Wellington, New Zealand
“Shipped/railed to Wigram airfield, near Christchurch for assembly 31/12/1930”
I can’t believe I didn’t check the AFMNZ site, I’ve even seen that one before! Thank you Duggy!
I was going to say Steven, personally.
Based on a TinEye reverse image search it appears to be a very popular stock image, but I’m struggling to ID it. I daresay the GA folk would have more knowledge.
Is there a chance at all someone has happened upon a new photo or two of ZK-ACL?
I’m not a licenced pilot but that scares me.
I must be very dense: where’s the two-seat FW-190 news?
Such a fantastic sight! I think I’ll wait to build my model of her until they finish the repaint
Bravo to those who put in the hard yards to clear out the rubbish, but I can’t help but wonder how other forums with moderators who have proper tools could have dealt with the onslaught.
Thank you.
“Lovely to see the tank in and no jump seat.” – it will be so refreshing…even if it means I can never have a ride!!
Thank you trumper, it really is a pleasure to share my experience and photos.
And in case you wanted to see work underway on the wing, there was an update from North Dakota overnight (from Brendon’s FB post):
Brent and his team at Odegaard Wings have been busy putting lots of rivets into our wings over the last couple of weeks with the lower wing skins largely finished apart from the lower gear well skins and effort then moving to the last of the upper wing skin riveting. Focus will then move to new outer skins for the gear doors, the stainless section of the “0” station rib between the two wing panels, and repair of the outer wing panels.

When I visited Brendon said the wings are about two-three months from completion. Don’t they look stunning? You can see all the progress pics on Brendon’s Facebook page and my own NZ2423 Flickr album (including historic photos of the airframe).
Is this the one recently sold on eBay for GBP500 (IIRC)?
