I always watch each of your videos as soon as I see them in my Subscriptions feed Dave and this is no different, just fantastic! I’m so grateful you take the time to share your experiences and in such a well-edited and polished fashion.
“Reason for disposal: Completeness/Condition” – forgive my ignorance, does the RAF Museum not restore exhibits for display?
According to John Terrell in this WIX post MH603 has flown for the first time after restoration today.
That was a fantastic article Elliot, bravo to yourself and the photogs – what a great look at the machine. I’m probably going to read it again this weekend.
I should’ve said, “curious about the current state” of them but I have no doubt Brenden can educate me fairly quickly!
Necrothread has become a zombie thread!
I’ve read in Geoff Goodall’s Warbirds Directory that an unidentified La-7 is being restored to fly in Russia for a private owner. Does anyone have any info on this project?
Also I may be a decade late but I just wanted to point out the immaculate La-9 in flanker_man‘s post is an La-11.
Wow, Matt, what an update! That’s fantastic!!
Be interested to know what’s happening with it?
Out of interest I have just gone to the Reevers Warbirds – Australia Facebook page. No activity since October last year with the advice they were selling their B-17 and A-26 inventory and changing the public FB page to a private group…which as of today has 103 members. I’ve applied to join as I’m curious about the various Spitfire projects registered to them and their principal. as well as the B-25.
I’m not trying to be cheeky, but has a Vampire Boys come out yet?
Also Dave – so nice to see an Eric Dumigan photo.
A brilliantly-written article, insightful stuff from the pilot and some gorgeous photos.
Following the discussion I’ve seen online I guess it’s about time for me to read this one. I confess to knowing nothing about the Wren other than seeing it pop up in Shuttleworth YouTube videos so I’m in for an educational experience!
Eighteen(!!) years on from the start of this thread I see a close associate of Mark12 has uploaded some wonderful film from this airshow to YouTube:
New, longer video:
Having followed Sir Peter’s WW1 passion since he imported the replica Camel in the late 1990s this was fantastic. To have such a look at TVAL’s workshop was not something I thought I’d ever get to see. The section on Wingnut Wings was bittersweet given what’s happened since this was filmed (I believe in 2019) but it was great to hear from some familiar names, ditto among TVAL’s pilot pool.
I think it was missed here but the restoration was largely completed and the aircraft put on display at the Omaka Aviation Heritage Centre in early April this year, with minor work continuing in situ and the propeller overhaul sponsored and carried out by Airbus’ NZ facility at nearby Woodbourne.
