RE: Stones for engagement rings
You mean like Homer Simpson, when he gave an onion ring to Marge?
I see the point about not being materialistic about it all, but I really think this is one instance where I’ve just got to hand over my credit card and accept whatever the “right” ring costs.
My inclination is diamond/gold, but it would be nice to do something a little differently thats all.

RE: Cyprus Airways A330
Fuel economy is no.1 guys. Don’t be so disparaging to accountants wysiwyg!
Fuel is the biggest single direct operating cost, at least it’s the biggest single cost which is easily controllable.
Therefore the main focus of any aircraft design will be fuel economy. Airbus just did a better job than Boeing, surely? Besides, the A330 is also photogenic – good looking and efficient, is there any more to design?!
RE: Stones for engagement rings
Well, a friend of a client is a diamond merchant in London. So I’m flying down next weekend to see what he’s got. I thought it might be nice for me to buy her a stone, and for us to get it mounted on a ring together, so she could choose the type of ring – gold, planimum etc..
Come on, some of you must be married – what have you done? All my friends just say get her birthstone or a big diamond!

RE: First Thomas Cook 757
You mean like the AA “Astrojets” ?
RE: India gets budget airline
What are the Indian trunk routes?
They seem well served already, with the state airline as well as Jet and Sahara?
RE: Lan Chile A340 pic.
Do you know if BA fly to Santiago? It’s just that I assumed there would be a connection, as LAN is in oneworld.
RE: Lan Chile A340 pic.
That is one of the best colour schemes going I think.
What are their European routes like – do you know if they serve all the major cities, or just Spain?
RE: Cyprus Airways A330
Good move.
Cyprus is a really major destination from the UK – combination of tourism, the UK armed forces presence, and business. Certainly there is a lot of Cypriot money in the IOM and I would suspect there is lots in Jersey/Guernsey too. Mostly ex-Russian…
Cyprus does huge amounts of business with Russia. Are there any direct air links to Moscow or maybe Kiev?
RE: Baggage overweight?
Also what class you fly. If you have a biz or 1st ticket, they tend to ignore the weight restrictions unless you take the p##s

RE: Airline names, what they really mean
SAA – Stewardesses Are Awful
SWISS – Sweet Women In Slinky Skirts
BMI – Blimey, Meal’s Indigestible!
RE: Baggage overweight?
Flights this time of the year will be quite busy, so I’d be prepared for an argument!
I’m positive they’d allow you say 10% leeway, so 22Kgs would be OK and any more would probably be pot luck as to the friendliness of the person you deal with.
Perhaps flashing a frequent flyer card over the counter would tip the balance in your favour, if you have one.
Maybe one of the airline people would care to elaborate?
