    RE: MyTravelLite New Route!

What was the dodgy accounting, out of interest?

RE: Russian Flag Carrier Chooses Airbus!

I’m not convinced that Eastern bloc airliners are all that good, Interflug.

There is a perception that they are very fuel inefficient compared to Western types. I would certainly say that, albeit subjective, Russian engines look long and thin, whereas modern Western engines look fatter – ie. Russian engines usually seem to have lower bypass ratios.

I find it interesting that NO ONE has taken a chance on them, apart from DHL (and then they chose the Tu-204, about the best of the lot, and it has RR engines).

Even Aeroflot had a mad rush to acquire the A310 for Western flights when the iron curtain fell, and they’ve subseuqnetly operated the 737 and 777, and shortly the A320. It isn’t just them – LOT, CSA, Malev…the list is getting quite long.

    RE: AF Hijack

The El Al and AF attempted hijackings look a bit like the one on the BA 744 over Africa about 2 or 3 years ago (the one that Jemima Khan was on)

Just a lone loony rather than a terrorist in that case and looks like this applies to the El Al and AF cases too.

RE: First pic of the Cathay Pacific A340-600!

Is it just me reading too much into it, or does CX have a RR-only policy?

Only exception being the CFM56 on their A340-300 fleet.

The Americans always seem to be involved in friendly fire accidents for some reason.

Doesn’t Ryanair serve the market? They fly to STN (aka Liverpool South).

Isn’t there an Australian carrier starting up, to cater for large and unserved demand for Australia-Bali??

    RE: Open Skies

Within the EU full cabotage theoretically applies, ie any airline can operate in/to/from any country without restriction.

This is why the restrictions specified in the open skies agreements are illegal. I think “open” is a bit of a misnomer!

    Yeah, it’s interesting kev.

The person disected, consented to this before they died, in full knowledge of what it involved.

The audience had full knowledge of what would happen, as did the TV viewers.

    Where’s the problem?

Euroceltic used to fly with F27’s but the schedule was somewhat erratic and infrequent.

LPL certainly needs better connections. I know I have slated John Lennon Apt in the past, but it does serve a big community and the big airlines (BA, BMI) seem to avoid it like the plague.
