    RE: Iraqi Invitation

    Nobody hates freedom, PII.

Your anaylsis of the motivations of Mohammed Atta and his lot is a bit simplistic.

Maybe their point was that the freedom of their own people is denied by the US.

Similarly, with Israel. You seem to think the Israelis are the good guys and all their neighbours are terrorist scum. Simply not true; Israel has a lot to answer for. That attutude, as held by the US gov’t, is one of the reasons certain people hate the US.

RE: Your fav place in the world?

Yes, the train is one of the must-do activities. There is a nearby town called Outsdhoorn (Afrikaner name) which has an Ostritch farm – you can go on a tour and you get to ride in an Ostirtch race at the end. Good wholesome stuff, whole holiday probably cost the same as a fortnight in Ibiza.

    RE: Australia’s refugee problem

There is currently a points test in place for migration down under.

It’s all pretty bueraucratic, but from what I can gather, you have to make sure you are in an occupation which appears on their skilled occupation list. If so, each occupation is allocated a number of points. The maximum seems to be 60, which is what accountants get thankfully.

Ja, I’m only guessing here so bear with me:

The tail engine has 2 prop blades, which might mean that the engine puts out 1/3 more RPM’s than the wing engines. Don’t know why there could be more RPMs.

    Wild guess!

The steam train carries passengers to the nearby town of George, past some of the most stunning beaches in the world, such as Wilderness. It also carries the town’s rubbish away!

    RE: Iraqi Invitation

It amazes me that rank and file Americans can be keen on the upcoming war. This will be no walk in the park like 1991 – the Iraqis will fight back. Thousands of US troops will die and thousands will be maimed.

The old expression “war is hell” is very apt. It’s too easy to glamourise it if you think it will be a one sided conflict. And the US population don’t like any war dead; they lost only a mere handful of men in Vietnam, by comparison to what the Allies lost in WW2. But the fallout from that was politically and culturally apocalyptic.

Also, to say that the US is hated by terrorists because it is “free” is inaccurate. Nobody hates freedom. Until the US faces up to the real reasons why their regime creates resentment and hatred, there will be no end. This saddens me, because I have a great respect and appreciation of the US, and also because it reflects poorly on Britian.

On a general note, over-expansion is one of the big reasons why businesses fail, ie. spending cash faster than it is being earned.

Maybe Easy are aware of this, hence the slow moving developments on fleet growth.

I don’t remember being told not to use my CD player. Maybe it’s because my eyes glaze over and I look out the window when they give the safety briefing!

Seriously, I have never hid my CD player – the trolley dollies must have seen my listening in countless times but no one ever said anything to me. I never use during T/O and landing, but during cruise.

    RE: Australia’s refugee problem

Part of the problem is that political correctness stops countries from only allowing immigration from certain countries.

The Aussies used to have a “white Australia” policy which was rightly condemmed. So they went 180 degrees to a “any comers” policy which is equally as bad. What they ought to have done is opt for a middle-ground policy.

Immigrants from Europe and North America have more in common ethnically, culturally and even linguistically with Joe Aussie. There is therefore less potential for crime if these groups are given “preferred” status. Obviously criminals and slackers should still be barred!

Actually, I believe there used to be immigration porgrammes in the UK to encourage Brits to move to Australia, but they seem to have stopped it. Why?
