    RE: CArriers

    Bit defeatist though isn’t it?

The transatlantic market is big – very big. I remember reading the LHR/JFK route is the most important in commercial aviation. Yet US carriers cannot justify 747s? Still seems odd to me!

    RE: CArriers

As an aside to this post, does anyone know why US carriers do not use 747’s on transatlantic routes? They are obviously the most efficient type of machine bearing in mind the domination of the type in the fleets of the main European carriers for transatlantic traffic.

Well, to the UK at least?

    Very lax!

Thiefrow is just such a big airport in the middle of an urban area, all very crowded. Time for a new airport for the UK?

Yes, I like the PPK beat too. Resurrection is OK, but the best one by PPK is Hey DJ 2001.

Or Virgin. They seem to go between 747-400 and A340 to SFO.

I assume one of the US carriers will fly that sector as well, using a 777 I’d expect.

Well, we’re back to the old idea of the US government messing in things that are not their business.

There was a debate on television in the UK today about the influence, ignorance and percieved lack of intellect of George Dubya.

The conclusion seemed to be that Tony Blair had some influence alone amongst Foreginers, but only when he agrees with him!

Well the best way to arrange it is to make sure you’re with a Partner in the firm; then nobody can really question your expense claims.

Having said that some colleagues of mine have recently started abondining BA due to the very high price. Business class return LHR-JFK is usually £4,000+ where as business class return via Frankfurt or Vienna might be £2,000 or so – savings all round!

Hmm…I’m still not sure that it would actually be possible for Cuba to have modern aircraft – the US simply would not allow it.

Hey – I work for a firm of accountants and we still get such perks sometimes.

Our rule is – if you are with a client who is flying first class, we are allowed to do the same (business class otherwise)

You can imagine, the wink-and-nod business that goes on there! (ie. if you go first class Mr. client, you’ll find our fees quite favourable)
