Probably the problem is that the people should care a bit more to learn their neighbours, then the would realize that the British are more different to the americans, than a an apple to a green cow. 🙂
I doubt it. Sometimes we agree more with the Europeans and less with the Americans. Sometimes we just plain disagree with both Europe and America. They have both let us down in the past. In fact, they both let us down in the Falklands.
But when it comes down to it, we instinctively are drawn to America; it is part of our psyche. I can just not see that being resolved.

And even in that point the UK fought for democracy in the european soil, sharing the same fate. One more thing to unite us.
Yes, but that is also my point Keltic. We fought for your democracy; now you want to throw it in our faces with the undemocratic EU. I know how the Americans feel when they regard “old europe” as being ungrateful.

Looking at the Embraer website, apparently Manx have an order for 23 ERJ145’s?
Manx was often used as a trading name for BRAL. I suppose those orders must now be for BA Citiexpress – though I didn’t know they were due to get quite so many new planes in these times!
we’re all dooooomed!

It´s a question of being isolated by Europe, with a ditatorship for years and our desire to be treated as other european countries. I don´t want to reduce that to a question of national egoism with money. What I meant is that……..would all the European economies be as they are without the EU?.
Ah, but there you have yet another issue. Most of Europe has emerged from dictatorship and oppression in the last 50 years – Spain, Germany, France, Austria, Italy, Benelux, all the new members…
But the UK hasn’t.
That at least is part of the reason for us beeing less needy of the EU, mentally.

Not that I’m trying to make fun of a bad situation, but…
Did you know SARS is also the South African Revenue Service? They are my professional enemy and I keep chuckling all day long these days…
Bravo!
I really want a TV station to expose these companies and governments. Then they could hire me as a researcher 😎
Keltic, the UK is a net contributor to the EU budget. Ireland is a net beneficiary of it! The situation is 180 degrees.
Spain is like Ireland – it gets more than it puts in, like most of the Mediterranean countries.
Of course these countries are going to be less eurosceptical than the countries that contribute more – Germany and the UK have higher levels of euroscepticism than say, Spain and Ireland.

Nothing has been announced about aircraft types as far as I know. In a way, it’ll be sad to see the end of the ATP. I remember being sooo glad when they were introduced on the IOM routes – they were great after years of the…shudder…urgh…Shorts 360.
The Future Size and Shape Review tranche 2 has earmarked a closure of the IOM base, at least so the rumours say.
By the way, our ferry company is also up for sale if anyone has a spare £150m!
Yes, but these charters are all part of the “spread the word” ethos which has been important to keep Concorde’s profile high.
Also, for operatonal reasons, they always have a spare aircraft so they try to utilise it sometimes.
